One 5850. Definitely. Non-crossfire graphics solutions are much easier to handle in the power and heat area, and generally produce less problems. Overclock it even on the stock cooling, and you've almost got a 5870.

I think i will go for a HD5830. From what i read on some reviews the difference between HD5830 and HD5850 is not that big.
Worst purchase ever. I'd spend a bit more for the ATI 5850. However for $190, gogogo!

the problem is that the 5830 is like 5% faster then a 5770...so if OP wanted 2X 5770 he will be sad with a single 5830...so just get a 5850 and don't waste more time.

With new drivers, I think the performance of the GPUs increased a bit. I think it's a worthwhile purchase for $190. Heck I'm tempted too.

the 5770 performance increase to with 10.4 ( 10.5 was a bug fix so no real gain ) So the performance is still around the same.

Well, I'd say they crossfire the same as any other card. The heat is a little more, they take a little power (though that shouldn't be a problem), they give more power, sometimes they're glitchy in new games before new drivers come out. S'about it.
