BenQ XL2420G G-SYNC Monitor Review Comment Thread

Awesome. I think that "fairly reasonable price" will be coming down quite a bit in the next 6-12 months, perhaps even sooner, once there are more models available. I think this is the only 24" G-Sync model around, with exception to the DIY VG248QE users.

Gamers on the fence about G-Sync should look at it this way: the gaming experience offered by the enthusiast $400 GPU and $500 G-Sync display is better than the gaming experience offered by the $600 high-end enthusiast GPU and standard $300 144Hz display.

You do realize that G-Sync increases the cost of the monitor by about $150-200 USD, right? Not knocking the system, but $200 is pretty expensive for a proprietary part of a monitor.

FreeSync hasn't been seen running a game yet. THAT is concerning.

AOC offers a 24" monitor with G-Sync. Canada Computers has on sale till the 31st for $499.00

Great review and I have always loved BenQ monitors.
 
Is this really the way forward though? Do I have to resign myself to the fact that my next monitor will probably be a downgrade in resolution?

It is $1000 and (if memory serves) not IPS. There are also a LOT of QC concerns on the customer reviews around the web if you do some research.

Most people already running a 27" 1440 monitor probably have an IPS panel. The colour quality is a definite downgrade going backwards, and the price point is definitely going upwards. My opinion is that anyone already on 1440/27" is that Gsync seems like it might be a sidegrade (gain smoothness at the cost of IQ) and the loss of mucho bucks.

I'm going to wait for the market shake out with the X-Syncs, yearly price drops, etc. Hopefully this happens quickly so I can get a 27" 1440p+ IPS X-Sync for a reasonable-to-me price (<600).
