Setting up Raid.. Does it matter what sata ports I use?
keep im mind this onchip raid solution on desktop motherboards is software assisted. While the controller supports "hardware" raid, its software assisted. For complete OS independant youd need an actual raid controller.- MarshallX

The fiber goes over to Aberdeen (the dual opteron) its across the house and i need a gigabit connection and didnt want to use Cat 5e or 6 when i had a long line of fiber just sitting around. It host the NFS mount for ESX and user profiles and user data.- MarshallX

Quad cpu's are allowed too, just not single, dual or quad core single cpu's, they arent as exciting. What we really need is someone with 8 cpu's or some itaniums haha. haha well this one wont fit in a regular atx, nor extended case. this one has 16DIMM banks, so it required an extra 2 inches above the I/O backplane. I had to buy the supermicro case to hold it.
