Installing windows onto external m.2 nvme?
It would be quicker, but then you have to take the laptop apart twice. Why bother doing a windows install when you have a fresh one on the existing drive?- SugarJ

Installing windows onto external m.2 nvme?
You can clone the Lenovo install to the larger SSD as an external drive, then just replace the drive in the laptop with the new one. This is how I've done it every time I've upsized the NVMe drives in our laptops.- SugarJ
