yes this is what i'm looking for now. Cheapest I found for everything was about 480$. Will keep looking at sales. Next step will be a new GPU and PSU but that might take a year... depends of work. Thanks to you all!- TimTheEnchanter

Thanks! Seems like the i5 4670k is the way to go then, as there is no objection to it. Fits my price range too. I'll start to keep an eye on prices and sales and wait for the good moment! Been a while i've been here! I'm starting to feel the need to upgrade my good friend Mr. Gaming PC. In a more specific way, I want to change my Intel e8500 to a better CPU/Motherboard/RAM combo. Startup problem!
Well, took me a while to answer (vacations!) and thanks for the feedback. Still, nothing is working. I tried booting (with or without installation on a different HDD) and it keeps restarting when i try to run it (as soon as i select run ubuntu, it reboots). I have tried with different OS disk and it isn't an OEM disk. The computer was built with parts from NCIX and they even assembled it- TimTheEnchanter

First boot device? Well it has been many. I've tried many things. I tried only HDD, only the DVD drive, one then another, etc. I tried switching the sata ports too. I resetted the bios correctly. Well i don't know if the component cable is specific for the ps2, but you might have to take a look at The Source... or simply ask friends and family, you might be surprised at how many people have this console.
