Systems still running on older versions of Windows

Interesting BBC article. I have no idea what OS Canadian ATM systems use. "We call 'em boat anchors," says John Watts, who handles high-end printing and post-processing for fine art photographers. The printers are LightJets, gigantic machines that use light, rather than ink, to print on...

    GN video about tariffs

It's going to depend on the industry and the scarcity of items. The auto industry in North America is quite fine tuned for production, so that any disruption is a problem. i.e. Stelantis shut down a Windsor auto plant for 2 weeks just with the threat of tariffs...

    GN video about tariffs

It was Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick making the screws comment. I'll reserve my personal comment about that guy. “The army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little, little screws to make iPhones, that kind of thing is going to come to America,” Lutnick said on Sunday...

    GN video about tariffs

And still a lot of US people believe Trump and think that China or the originating country is paying the duty. With Win10 being EOL, I looked into getting a Mac. The way that seems to work if you order from Apple Canada, it is made in China and shipped direct to the buyer in Canada. My brother...

    Sony terminating 8K TV line

Well, a group in China thinks 8K is good along with displacing HDMI & Display Port - GPMI. I wonder how the US/China tariff war will handle that? Move over HDMI and DisplayPort: China has launched GPMI, a new high-speed interface developed by the 8K UHD Video Industry Cooperation Alliance of...

    The Official Food Thread

Came across this recipe a few days ago that sounded interesting for "Roasted “Corned” Cauliflower." Says it's a St. Patrick's Day recipe. Quite different and very tasty; although I found 2 tablespoons of salt far too salty for me. I let it soak in the spice brine for about 24 hours. But the...

    Experience with ULINE products?

There are heavy duty retractable casters available. However, they do protrude out. Depending on the weight you'd have to secure them with substantial screws or lag bolts. I use them for a small wooden workbench that I rarely use but need to move it occasionally.

    Hot Deals!!!!!

What's useful here if you want to depend less on Amazon, is to check to see if the seller has a website. I found that the woodturning chuck I was interested in (Australian made), was being sold by a Canadian company. It was cheaper, plus they paid for shipping. Found they had some nice HSS...

Google will have to break up to stop its current browser and search monopoly

While there's a problem with search engines, the results all too often seem to be clones of each other. OR you just get bad sites. Sort of like searching on Amazon - they want to sell, sell, sell, so you'll always get a list but not what you're looking for.
