Thanks!
Mine showed up today and holy cow does it look good! Didn't get a chance to try gaming on it yet...maybe this weekend. Very impressed with how it looks right out of the box. I'll likely tinker with it a bit to fine tune the settings, but right now I have no complaints.
Thanks! He is very photogenic. Somewhere in the 150-160 lb region. When he stands on his back legs for a hug (which he loves to do) he pretty much looks me right in the eyes.
Bought a used RTX 3080 here from a fellow HWC member, but it feels wasted with my old 1080P display, so last night I ordered the AOC Q27G3XMN monitor from Amazon as they had it on for 10% off. Seems to be reviewed very well. Can't wait to get it & see if it lives up to the hype.
FWIW I received the 3080 I purchased today. 5 days(?) to ship from Vancouver all the way across Canada to PEI!
Card was in perfect condition, and is running great.
Have no doubts if you're looking to buy one of these cards :)
Yeah, I figured I'd try reconnecting it & see what happened. Sure enough, OS booted up on the NVME drive, and assigned the old SSD to drive I:
I guess I'll just format that then I should be good to go!
Many thanks for the help!
Ooh, good idea. I didn't try that as I didn't think it would work given that the new drive isn't even detected in the bios. I suspect I'd just get a "no boot drive detected" error, but I'll go & try now.
Hey all,
So I just upgraded all the guts of my pc to the build I'd discussed in the new builds section.
I cloned my OS drive to the new NVME drive, and it was assigned drive E: however when I go into my BIOS to tell my system to use drive E: as the boot drive, that option isn't available -...
Yep, supposedly it's showing up Sunday, so I know what I'm doing Sunday afternoon. I'll have to brush up on my pc build skills as it's been a while since I did a complete overhaul & windows migration!
Ordered the new guts for my first upgrade in a few years.
i5 12400, MSI B660M, 16GB RAM & a 1TB NVME drive. Should be a nice upgrade from my old i5 7500
Not searching through 200+ pages to see if it's been mentioned here, but the recent situation in Ukraine reminded me of a movie I'd meant to watch but never got around to: Threads. So I watched it the other night. It's freely available on youtube.
It's a 1984 BBC show about Russia invading Iran...
Probably not! I've had this cooler for my past 2-3 cpus so was hopeful (though not expecting) that it might hold out for one more. No biggie though - I'll try the stock & see how it goes, then upgrade down the road if I deem it necessary.
Thanks for the detailed reply! Potentially silly question: I have a Hyper 212 EVO cooler on my current i5 7500. Would it also work with the 12400?
Based on the feedback I'm switching the MB to a MSI PRO B660M
Switching SSD to the S7 blade as a couple of you guys recommended it.
I was all set...
Bumping this as my tax return came in last night, so I'm about to pull the trigger on the following. Figured I'd run it by the good folks here to see if there's anything here that's not a good choice. Do I need an aftermarket cooler with the 12400? If so, any recommendations on something that's...
Yeah, my case & psu should still be fine to re-use. Saw someone local selling a 5600x with Asrock B550m Pro 4 & 16gb Adata Gammix DDR4 3000 ram.
They're asking $550, which seems a little on the high side given what those components go for new.
