Amazon Sidewalk coming to Canada Feb 26

Mine was already Disabled? Was yours defaulted to Enabled? I only have an old Show 8 Gen2 and Fire Cube Gen3 though. I know my Show isn't getting Alexa+, and I'm guessing my Cube will be stuck on Android 9/FireOS 7.

The 'What are you watching' Thread

I think S3 was better than S2, but eh, it is what it is, as you said, "American male power fantasy" lol

    Crappy Used Computer Parts Ads

"Vintage" point & shoot cameras are also going for a premium these days. People seem to be into low-tech lately or however you want to call it.

don't store your bitlocker keys in the cloud

Nothing new... if you don't retain your encryption keys/recovery codes, and trust them to somebody else, that data is no longer yours and is no longer encrypted. I suspect a lot of businesses using various cloud providers don't consider this either. I feel like there's been others stories like...

Corsair AF140 LED case fan as rear exhaust fan (air cooled PC)?

Where are you fans plugged into then if not the motherboard? Every AM4 board that I know of came with PWM (4pin) fan headers, which would let the BIOS control the fan speeds based on the CPU temp. Any of the fans you have would work fine, I don't think you'll see any tangible difference...

    DDR5 pricing going up FAST

Let me know if he can do $250 :ROFLMAO: I would like to bump my server to 192GB as that's what I paid for these:

WD dual arm spinning disk drives

Price will be the biggest question as even HDDs have gone up a fair bit now... I'm not sure I would want the noise of a HDD in my computer again though. I can't imagine these will be silent by any means if they have dual arms.

Two reservoirs (With a D5 pump each) in series instead of dual loops

I'm not sure I would be so concerned about "wasted" radiator capacity. A 560mm should be sufficient for a 5090. I think I'd be more concerned about the airflow across the rads, since they face each other and you likely want push/pull fan setup on a 60mm. I'd probably make the GPU radiator as...

Notepad++ fixes updater security breach - good idea to update your version

Taskbar icon is totally normal and legit. This runs under one of the many "svchost.exe" processes. You should not see anything in task manager called "BluetoothService.exe" running.

First TrueNAS build: Powers on but won’t POST (ASRock B550 Pro4)

Another "silly" idea, PCIE power cables fit into the EPS12V (CPU) power too... so make sure it is the correctly labelled CPU cable that's plugged in there too. It should be a 4+4 cable. Do you have any local computer shops you can take it to? They should have RAM on-hand to test with, extra...

Notepad++ fixes updater security breach - good idea to update your version

Far more in-depth analysis: https://www.rapid7.com/blog/post/tr-chrysalis-backdoor-dive-into-lotus-blossoms-toolkit/ I guess if you see "BluetoothService" running from %AppData%\Bluetooth, then you were targeted.

Notepad++ fixes updater security breach - good idea to update your version

I just saw comments say, "well you need to format your PC and start over" as it's not like the malware would be in notepad++.exe, it would have sideloaded as something else. But then I'd also like to think Defender and other products would be able to detect whatever was deployed. I file it...

Notepad++ fixes updater security breach - good idea to update your version

The odd part is this though: So unless you were targeted by this Chinese state-sponsored group, it's of no consequence? Not sure how you would be able to tell if you were targeted though...

Microsoft stepping back with their Windows 11 AI & Recall deployment and reassess goals

Copilot has become really slow lately, at least the M365 version we have at work. I know my laptop doesn't have a NPU or anything either (5yr old X1 Carbon) but it has the flashing dots for a minute or 2 before it even begins thinking. It was originally fast a couple months ago. Not sure what's...

Ubiquiti gear is getting to the Russian Military

China also didn't stop getting NVIDIA GPUs 🤷‍♂️ Sanctions, embargos, bans... whatever term you want to use... there's no true way of stopping anything! I could see like Cisco, Arista or Juniper doing something like that, bigger players that would have US government contracts. But yes, very...

Ubiquiti gear is getting to the Russian Military

I presume Hunterbrook is just looking to manipulate the market and lower UI's share price. Similar thing that Hindenburg does too. I would always question when these investigations come from investment firms that likely have vested interests.

Best case fans that are quiet

If I recall, the latest Meshify 3 reviewed pretty well. I run Thermaltake ToughFan 14's, I find their noise profile to be acceptable. I run custom water cooling (420mm + 280mm), so I can keep the RPMs down for the most part. I have Thermalright B12's in another PC which are also decent...

    DDR5 pricing going up FAST

All the fans/AIO could just be plugged into the PSU and have the PSU jumped... not impossible to do but I can't see Costco employees doing that. Maybe manufacturers ship "display" models now instead?
