Work in progress Project Titan: my delayed Ryzen 5900x Gamer Build!

I like that they take risks and try new things, I dont like that they reinvent things that don't need reinventing / add dumb changes no one asks for. OH! For the first time Ever, I need to buy a USB internal splitter, since ASUS only gives you One internal 2.0 header and I need 2 (1 for the...

Work in progress Project Titan: my delayed Ryzen 5900x Gamer Build!

Things are Happening! The PC room / monitor arm project is again waiting on parts, so I've FINALLY got the time to build my Brand-new, "top of the line" monster Gamer! /much sarcasm haha... Most of these parts were bought 3ish years ago, during "comfort shopping" Covid days. Man Covid...

Use CCleaner, probably just left something in the registry that CCleaner will get rid of.

NAS build - mostly AliExpress 🙂

That's a LOT of ram and storage haha. Whatcha using it for? I'm too much of a scaredy cat to use R1 myself, but hopefully your R1 array wont bite you in the future. Also... photos?!?!?!

    Crappy Used Computer Parts Ads

Uh, why so expensive? I rebuild my own headphones every few years and it normally costs me like $60ish bucks. For headphones that aren't made anymore and cost over $350 new, I dont mind that at all... Quick Amzn search; replacement ear pads for 1000XM3s are $25, but I didn't find the head band...

Recommendation for mid-range (price) desktop mic for PC use

Indeed! But mics always do work the best when directly pointed at the mouth. So running a mic off to the side means higher gain, possible ambient noises leaking in, etc. Most won't care about that stuff, but I do 🤷‍♂️. Musician background.

    Crappy Used Computer Parts Ads

I actually always liked that case, or at least did years ago when 200mm intakes were rare-er. And the asymmetrical front is/was kinda cool too, considering how many cars even today are boring, black rectangles 🤷‍♂️

Recommendation for mid-range (price) desktop mic for PC use

Sorry guys, but.. No. Overhead boom mic arms are Not useful, and Im sick of seeing every YTer and streamer out ther using massive overhead arms and blocking vision all over the place. I have tried and returned so many arms, mounts and adapters over the past few years that I think I'm sorta...

Bolt Graphics claims better performance than RTX 5090

Latency I sorta get. Bandwidth though? Just how many memory channels can a GPU have? Quad channel? Octal channel?

Recommendation for mid-range (price) desktop mic for PC use

Yeah if you dont have an audio background and dont want to deal with a lot of extra complications, Blue Yeti gets my vote, easily. Had one for years for simple one-PC gaming setups and it works great in every sense. Highly recommended 👍

Bolt Graphics claims better performance than RTX 5090

Makes you wonder why more GPUs dont start adding so-dimm slots. The fastest DDR5 isnt That far behind GDDR, and the capacity increase couple Very attractive if games / apps were set to take full advantage of it. Like loading ALL textures for your game onto the gpu haha

Work in progress The Mr Techtician (me) Streaming Setup (in progress)

QUICK! How many adapters and standoffs can you count?!!?! 3... 2... 1... Wrong(?)! Its 3 adapters, and 12 standoffs 😅. THIS is why I like standards, and having standards too. So this is my medical monitor arm, holding a VESA position-shift plate, which is holding a VESA 2x on 1x horizontal...

Article Suggestion: How VRM Design Affects CPU Clock Speed

I think the biggest factor for thinking about making a mobo purchase is all about capacity. PCIe lanes capacity and distribution, capacity of nvme drives, overall mobo size, etc. Gotta make sure it'll have enough to suit your needs, without going to waste. Other than in top-end gaming rigs, I...

    Game Sale PSA

I'd mostly agree about Epic, but there ARE gems! Examples: Dead island 2, got it free and had a pretty fun time playing through it, even if it was a little dry and didn't have much replay value, probably 40ish hours of gameplay. Even Better: about 2-3 years ago I got Snowrunner for free, and my...

Nvidia killing off support for, possibly, the most popular GPUs of all time?

Normally, I'd say yes about the 10 year thing. But literally Everyone bought GTX 10 series. It was hailed as the best ever, generation -defining, and all those other buzzwords. At least GTX 10 series isnt the top top most common GPU on steam anymore, but its still up there. Most seem to be...

Nvidia killing off support for, possibly, the most popular GPUs of all time?

My bad I guess, did a forum search and everything haha. But who doesn't or didn't have a GTX 10 series card? I still have a couple, I know of many, many gamers that aren't going to be happy that their 1080TIs - which is still plenty potent for most games - is going to lose support. Edit: and I...

Nvidia killing off support for, possibly, the most popular GPUs of all time?

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here, but its important: As of Nvidia drivers 580.x, Maxwell GPUs (GTX 10xx) and older architectures will no longer receive updates. So like, 60-70% of all gamers will no longer receive updates for newer games. Nvidia being scummy. Not happy with them...
