our hot water tank burst...AGAIN! last time it burst the end of November. the replacement was defective and it's replacement had to ship from Montreal and due to the holidays, etc., the one that just died didn't get installed until sometime in January. so a little over a year and the new one... -
UPS recommendations home/gaming PC in 2025?
they are. for the few minutes they can do at max load. they give you the breathing space to safely shutdown the equipment being protected. that you can run very low power devices for 'extended' runtimes is an bonus.- Marzipan

@sswilson I didn't say they can't be used to run something for sustained periods. just that they are not designed for that. there are circumstances where installing a generator as failover isn't feasible, but every time I've had a project where this was how the UPS' would be used, our reps...- Marzipan

the TV should be fine, but stereos inrush and sustained current will overload most UPS and cause them to fault. of course, there will be some exceptions. that said, UPS are not for running a device when power goes out, they're for stopping them from sudden power loss so you can shut down and...- Marzipan
