Your missing the point... It's not about "disparaging remarks" it's about pointing out the strengths and weaknesses. eg, the 1600x is a great budget workstation chip, as it's cheap powerful but far from the most powerful.. Don't agree, just because something runs the same software does not mean that the architectures are comparable in either IPC or clock speed or anything else alone.. It's only when you take the whole package as it was designed to operate that comparisons are relevant.. Making something work...- Dzzope

Still don't think it holds up.. So take AMD vs Nvidia at the mo.. Better still. Take Nvidia only. the 10 series clocks MUCH higher than the 9 series.. And kicks it's ass, obviously.. However if you match those clocks... Which will win, hmm? Does that mean the 9 series is better.. course not...- Dzzope

If you can wait 2 weeks to Ryzen 5, it may give you more wiggle room while offering similar single thread performance while also providing may more threads than the Intel chip You'll also be able to overclock the CPU if wanted. If at all possible, I'd wait for Vega (new AMD GPU's) to land...- Dzzope

Dash Cams (seriously)
Seen a few people re-purpose phones for just this. With dash cam, especially if your NOT in a good area... Try get one that doesn't look like a web-cam stuck to your screen... PITA having to take it off and put it up every time you get in the car There are "disguised" ones or less noticeable...- Dzzope

Yep, those specific ones put him over... but am sure he could get a 1080ti and a slightly lower end screen for a bit less. Main point is the alternative option vs the UW 1440 screens.- Dzzope

1200 bucks you could get a 1080ti and a monitor Instead of the Ultra-wide, maybe look at the AOC 2560x1440 165hz Ips (HAVA) Gsync screen. Gives you a fast, High res monitor with good colours and then keep your current one as a secondary monitor...- Dzzope

got the itch to upgrade
Only reason to upgrade is for either better multi-tasking via a drop in 3770k or for a platform update (and better multi-tasking) by going newer intel or Ryzen.. But if your a person who runs a game and not much else, this is less of a factor. I think flipping the 970's for a single card is...- Dzzope

Well it's obvious that their IPC has improved but if the core doesn't run at the same clocks it's a pointless synthetic test. If a chip runs at 4.4ghz and has the same or even slightly worse IPC than a chip that runs at 3.8 or 4.0, it's going to be faster.. if you cripple it, of course it will...- Dzzope
