I previously posted about using solvoplast to soften up the glue to delid my chip and I mistakenly thought it had killed my chip. Turned out I was just a moron who forgot to clear cmos after putting the chip back in. I feel so dumb yet so relieved.
Before the delid I was hitting almost 95C with...
one clear cmos later, it's friggin alive. Not a good temp but it seems to be stable at that temp for an hour so far. From what I thought was a dead cpu to one that's working and oc's well is making me one hell of a happy camper
I dont think anybody should use solvoplast. Too much hassle and doesnt really work that well
Andddd goes through bios. reboots at logo. Was making funky artifacts before on integrated gpu. Think my cpu is kinda dead....
Edit: NVM it's frigging working:clap:
Reset CMOS and the goddamn thing booted
I got mine at Shoppers Drug Mart. Had to specifically request they special order it for me, pharmacist never heard of it. $8/bottle. I actually have an extra bottle if anybody in the GTA want to pick it up
I got the stuff on the pads, is it enough to just rinse with iso or should i scrub it...
Yep, you were right. Feather DE blades went through it like butter but one corner refused to let go so it took about 40min to remove it. There was a ton of suction which made getting the ihs off really hard. Soaking the ihs in solvo at the moment so I don't know if it works yet
Well, it's been 20 hours. Tried to delid at around the 12hour mark using a box cutter blade but had no luck. Need to wait for my DE blades to arrive. I think mounting my D14 compressed it a bit too much
Time to clear out the stash of computer gear. Prices are OBO since I'm just guessing their value so don't hesitate to send me an offer. I may not ship instantly since I may decide to keep some gear/time permitting but I shall do my best to let you know within 48 hours
2x MSI GTX 465/470 - $130...
Evidently I don't learn. Some ebay card reader keeps 'killing' sd cards forcing me to reformat them. 4 different cards have been wiped by this piece of shit
While 'gaming' keyboards used to be the selling factor with all the lights and macro keys, I'd say it's more of a preference for better keys that people suddenly realize they want when switching from . For me personally, switching to a mechanical keyboard I found I made less mistakes and typed...
Seems like nobody innovates any more with the same old pump blocks repackaged over and over. My only issue is that it's still the same plastic backplate with the same potential for stripped screws spinning around forever that I just experienced for the first time a week ago with a Kuhler 620

This should work to flash over, just use the proper file. Should work on your asus too if it died from bad flash
Amazon.com: Alienware AM11X-2894CSB 11.6-Inch Laptop (Cosmic Black): Computers & Accessories GT 335M. Not a slouch by any means but I'd take the Y470 over the m11x. Much better specs overall.
Only reason to take the m11 is if you absolutely need the compact size but with cross border...
Thing is, it was at 1.3vcore originally, dropping it down to 1.25 didn't affect temps at all. Think a D14 is going to be an improvement in temps over the 620?
