Hey guys,
I got a Rampage II Extreme running a core i7 920 @ 4GHz 1.27vcore.
I'm working on a storage solution that looks like this:
3x WD Black 640 in Raid 0 for OS/Applications
3x WD Green 8mb 1TB drives in Raid 5 for Data
Would this be completely overkill for the onboard controller?
lol, you should have told me you have a psu when i bought that vid card off you!!
Meh... i guess it's a good thing... i'm spending too much lately. There's nothing wrong with trying to boost the economy :haha:
I'm typing this from a 17" macbook pro i got almost 3 years ago. As soon as apple went intel, and had the option of running windows xp, i decided to try it out.
Never again!
Sure it looks good, but the performance is pretty poor. The software seems limited, and forget about games. I mostly use...
Hello guys!
I'm looking for 2 inexpensive computers. Nothing too fancy. As long as it's capable of running windows xp. It's for a couple friends on a very limited budget, that need something to surf the internet with.
Ideal computers can be either AMD or Intel with at least 2GHz cpu's, and 512MB...
I've read somewhere that putting 2 Core's in raid will reduce the stutter significantly. Perhaps the dual JM do just that?
The Intel X25-M has some sort of raid technology built within it to get the speeds it does.
It probably just 0's out the drive, kinda like boot 'n' nuke does.
Basically the 80gb Intel drives are more like 100gb drive. The extra 20gb is to move the data around when some of the cells fail.
These drives fragment just like regular HDD's, but there is no proper/easy way to defragment...
I got a 64gb Core drive a while ago. Tested it for a day... No matter what tweaks i did, it would stutter like mad. Returned it right away. Buying a Core ssd is like burning money :)
At least it's quiet :D
