    AMD Ryzen 1800/1700 available

Thinking about finally retiring my old i7 860 build and going with a full new build with a Ryzen 1700. I'll wait to see the full third party benchmarks and reviews, but seems exciting to finally have some good CPU competition again.

    Two APs, same SSID

So I got the UAP-LR a couple of weeks ago and it's been perfect. No noise out of it, was able to turn off the light and hide it mounted to a wall behind a dresser. Excellent coverage all over the house and in the front and back yards. I have to suggest it to anyone who's looking for a solution...

    Direction of forum

I was never a huge poster on these forums but I really like the nice friendly nature everyone seems to have. Whenever I have a technology question this is still the first place that comes to mind. PC hardware doesn't interest me as much as it used to and I don't have the expendable money for it...

    Two APs, same SSID

From what I've read it was more of a problem around 2012 or so, the LR version would make a clicking noise while it's in use. Most seem to be reporting that it was fixed with a firmware update since so hopefully it's fine.

    Two APs, same SSID

So I ordered the LR model after. If the clicking is too loud I'll have to look into running cable in another room sooner than I planned.

    Two APs, same SSID

This is what I'm going to do now. I was thinking about getting the long range version, as I'd like to get Google Play down in the fire pit, but I read some compliants that it's a bit louder than the regular model. And for the time being, the only room I have Cat 6 ran to is our bed room so I'm...

Looking for new keybord - typing and some gaming

I spend the majority of my time typing at work on cheap membrane keyboards where I have to bottom out. I don't do a large amount of typing at home by comparison, so learning to do it properly at home most likely wouldn't stick, or I would start messing up how I type at work. Either way I'm very...

    Two APs, same SSID

Some devices are not connecting properly. PCs and laptops may loose connection to the printer and streaming video from a mobile device to Apple TV or Chromecast only works half the time. I may look at getting a stronger AP for upstairs and just shutting off the wireless downstairs.

    Two APs, same SSID

I've found that about half of my devices will automatically switch over when I move away from one and closer to the other, but things like iPads need the wireless turned off and back on again. Either way this seems like the ideal solution for now.

Looking for new keybord - typing and some gaming

I ordered mine from WASD Keyboards (the blue ones) and I love them. I never did much research on o rings before buying but they're perfect for me.

    Two APs, same SSID

That's how I had my old house setup, but now that I use laptops and tablets more often and move through the house with them, I'd rather try with something the doesn't require manually switching the wi-fi network. I'll try this for a while and see how it goes.

So seems like I should actually put them on seperate channels instead of the same. I'll have to try doing that and running some tests.

Looking for new keybord - typing and some gaming

This is exactly what I did. I've had it for about a month now and I love the shit out of it. It was a little loud but with the orings installed it's perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you everyone for your help.

    Two APs, same SSID

Just got a new house and the only place Bell could install their wi-fi router was in the corner room in the basement without doing a big tear up or having me rent an extra TV box in a room I didn't need it. So on the top floor in rooms on the opposite side of the house the signal was pretty slow...

New CPU/Mobo for gaming - on the cheap

I downclocked my i7 slightly and it hasn't been freezing up since. Don't notice any luls in my performance for day-to-day use. Only time will tell, but I might be fine with what I have for another year or so. I'd be more comfortable waiting as I've had a lot of big expenses lately. I should be...

New CPU/Mobo for gaming - on the cheap

Okay thanks I'll try and go for that. I'm just going to try a few things to see if I can get my i7 860 back to being stable, but if she keeps freezing I'm going to jump on this for sure.

New CPU/Mobo for gaming - on the cheap

So my Core i7 860 is finally starting to bite the dust. System lockups and freezes coming from CPU errors. Basically I'm looking to keep most of the gear I already have and replace the CPU and Mobo with newer parts for as little money as possible without degrading gaming performance. All I...
