Yes, those are excellent points. It's like I've been aiming at something between a total budget PC and a complete/mid-tier system.
This is meant as a general use/light-medium gaming PC. This is not for me; and I was asked to buy new components,
That said, I feel I should either do a...
I guess I might bump the budget a bit.
This would be the Ryzen 3 build:

To be more specific, let me share some of the issues I am debating:
Mobo: Is the ASRock - B360M Pro4 a good fit? Should I get something cheaper. A Gigabyte mobo?
Storage: Are there any know issues with the Kingston - A400?
GPU: I would rather buy a new card. GTX 1050ti seems like a very...
I am building a budget gaming/general use PC for my nephew. It will be used for gaming at 1080p, surfing the Internet, Office and other lightweight applications, etc.
My budget is around $700-750 + taxes (CAD). I will be buying from Canada. I don’t have any shop preference.
With...
Hum, I think after all we'll simply build a new budget gaming PC. The current rig seems like it's crumbling apart. So, I'll be doing some research on budget gaming/general usage rig in the coming weeks. Thanks for the advice you gave me!
So, I verified the information about the system in question. The system is based on a H57 mobo and has a 300w PSU. There is a PCIe slot available. I think the Windows version is 32 bit, so it does not seem useful to upgrade RAM to 8GB, right? The 750ti would thus be a very option indeed...
So you are saying that a GTX750 ti could work with the 300w PSU that comes with the mobo?
I am leaning towards a simple upgrade at this point, so a used 750 ti looks very appealing to me.
Thanks!
I need to double check what the PSU is.
Also, I had assumed that it has a PCIe slot available, but I would need to verify.
I guess a GT 1030 would have the advantage of not requiring too much power.
Thanks.
I recently visited my nephew and decided to buy him a graphics card to improve his current, very basic, Inspiron 580 system from around 2010.
He is currently playing on integrated graphics from a i3 540. Which graphics card would go well with that CPU? Max budget is $80.
I think the power...
Thanks for your suggestions. At this point, I am leaning towards a GTX 1060. But I'll see in December/early January. I will also most likely buy a second set of 2 x 4 GB of Ripjaws DDR3 RAM.
I would like to get some advice concerning my existing Crucial M4 SSD Micron C400. Is it too old...
Should we expect significant changes in the coming months concerning mainstream (around $300) graphics cards? I read a bit about AMD's Vega lineup but it looks like it will still take quite a bit of time before the more affordable cards are launched and become available. Right?
As I mentioned in my opening statement, I will upgrade only in January (I am currently abroad). Between now and then, there will be Black Friday, Christmas, and then new releases. What I mean to ask here, are there specific reasons that should affect the timing of my purchase? Thanks.
