    Having said this, I can freelance renderings just fine on an i7-930 and ATI 5850. I use Vray on 3D Studio Max.. at medium quality of 5000px-wide exterior scenes still only take 1.5 hours.

    Don't bother with GPU for rendering. By the time that comes around as being effective you'll be upgrading hardware again all together. Not sure what render engine or what platform you use, but only a few new ones are built/optimized for GPU render. Otherwise stick with the best CPU you can...

    I have found LinkedIn useless. As someone said it's more Facebook for corporate these days. If anything I receive more spam and student cold calls than anything.     Yes I have remove the panel to try and detect this noise. No wires hitting fans etc. It's definitely related to computer activity (increases frequency when loading webpages etc). Will boot into only SSD and give that a go.
