Damn... I'm not ready to spend the money and upgrade to a current gen i7 + mobo. My current rig still serves me really well... if not for what I -suspect- to be a wonky motherboard, which makes me hesitant in paying 150+ for a motherboard.
Hi,
If you have something just sitting around let me know. Whether it's deluxe not. I feel like swapping out my current X58a board as it's been a bit wonky. Hard to tell in the end though so would like to buy another cheap board to troubleshoot.
Let me know. Thanks!
Having said this, I can freelance renderings just fine on an i7-930 and ATI 5850. I use Vray on 3D Studio Max.. at medium quality of 5000px-wide exterior scenes still only take 1.5 hours.
Don't bother with GPU for rendering. By the time that comes around as being effective you'll be upgrading hardware again all together. Not sure what render engine or what platform you use, but only a few new ones are built/optimized for GPU render. Otherwise stick with the best CPU you can...
Solidworks isn't very GPU intensive. I'm not sure what satellite design work entails, but if you're calculating anything I would expect something like the i7 to give you much more value. Unless you're going to have a lot of polygons and you're modeling every single piece the GPU doesn't need to...
I'm liking Grid Autosport. Not sure how their graphics compared to NFS, but it's pretty awesome to me.
Also lots of indie/old games from GoG/Steam sale :) Anyone ever played Little Big Adventures?
I have found LinkedIn useless. As someone said it's more Facebook for corporate these days. If anything I receive more spam and student cold calls than anything. Of course, I can only speak of my industry. For us it's more personal recommendation and just straight up resume/portfolio/experience.
Agreed. See how your 5850 runs first with the new screen. My 5850 is running pretty well on my 23" and 29" still. Given, I don't play really graphic intensive games like Battlefield or Call of Duty with everything maxed out. But it's been able to take everything I've thrown at it to...
Yes I have remove the panel to try and detect this noise. No wires hitting fans etc. It's definitely related to computer activity (increases frequency when loading webpages etc).
Will boot into only SSD and give that a go.
Interesting timing. New development. I have a 64GB SSD I use as cache for certain design software I use once in awhile. When I booted up today I notice computer wanted to run CHKDISK on it before booting into windows. I let it run. But now I can't access the drive. When I try formatting it in...
