Apparently I wrote a widely read review.

Nah, I really didn't know what I was doing. No mention of viewing angles, for example.

Apparently I wrote a widely read review.

I don't post much on Hardware Canucks. Because of this, I was always mystified by how I'm apparently 'level 9 (whoops, I guess I'm level 10 now somehow)'. I have basically no presence here, so where did it all come from? I figured it out today. Apparently, my very first post was a doozy...

    Fermi benchmarking controversy

He's re-running it with his computer at 3.33 GHz instead of 4, and the differences are being blamed on everything from drivers to sunspots, but it's definitely thought-provoking.

    Fermi benchmarking controversy

A moderator on Overclock.net has run the Unigine benchmark at the settings used in nVidia's 'GTX480 vs 5870' slides on his 5850, and the results are surprising. His results are in blue. Source

OCZ Agility EX 60GB SSD Review Comment Thread

Good review, but I think he got his chipsets mixed up on page 10. Unless I missed something? Edit: oops, necromanced.

CM 690 top mount rad mod

The temperatures were my fault; I had neglected to take the plastic protector off the CPU block. After taking it off, I get 29 degree idles and 43 degree loads at 4.05 GHz, with medium-speed Scythe S-Flex fans. I could use faster fans to get even lower temps, but I like the quiet.

    Best Graphics Card Right Now.

I believe you mean 'germane'. Between a 295 and a 5870, if you can actually get a 5870, it is the superior choice. It offers better upgrade options in terms of adding another card, has newer features, and costs less, while offering performance that closely rivals the 295 (I refuse to make...

Update: I've clocked it to 4.2 GHz, at 1.35 volts and about 45 degrees under ORTHOS. I have to bump the voltage for stability, but the temperature is low and Windows started smoothly, so I should be able to push it a little further without breaking 1.4.

Distilled water, a bit of Water Wetter, Iodine, and some Danger Den UV-Clear Blue dye. The dye, by the way, is now liberally coating every component in my loop with a thin particulate. I wonder why it isn't in stock at NCIX any more?

Yeah, I'm surprised it even let me clock to stock speeds, but I had actually been overclocking for ten months with that thing on.

This isn't really a new build, just an upgrade, but it turned out to have such drastic consequences that I really do almost have a new computer. Recently, I discovered that without any sort of airflow over my northbridge heatsink, it gets too hot to touch, so I decided to buy a Swiftech MCR-30...

    Water cooling the P5Q northbridge

That first Enzotech cooler was exactly what I was hoping to find; I'm not sure how I missed it, but that you very much for pointing it out! Thanks to everyone else as well for advice, and showing me I'm not the only one with these concerns.

    Water cooling the P5Q northbridge

I have a P5Q Pro. My current water cooled setup doesn't direct a lot of air over my northbridge, and it gets pretty hot. I've been thinking about buying a Swiftech MCW-30 chipset cooler, but I'm leery about removing my stock cooler, because I'm not sure how critical the mosfets under the heat...

CM 690 top mount rad mod

I'm the guy who came over. A few things I'd like to add: Folding that mesh down evenly is really hard. At the front of the radiator, by the barbs, we should have cut and folded it at an angle, so that it would meet the radiator flushly. Also, the radiator is wedged onto that top cap... and...

    Help for Asus P5Q installation

We might have solved it by holding the power down for 6 seconds several times. It did the error again, but the same fix dealt with it (I'm reluctant to say it solved it, since the problem came back). Anyway, Windows is installing, so I'll let everyone know how it went with a buildlog later...

    Help for Asus P5Q installation

I'm setting up my computer (with the assistance of Babrbarossa, who knows what he's doing), but when we power it on, the fans spin once, the power LED flashes once, and it makes a squeal, but it doesn't power on. It's an Asus P5Q Pro, an e4300, and an 8800GTS, and we're watercooling it. Has...

    Samsung 2343BW

Well then. I guess I have some thinking to do about the 2343 vs the 2443. Somehow, Future Shop never told me they price matched. Edit: I am now the proud owner of a 2443. The upgrade cost me $45, including the 4 year plan, because they're on sale right now for $329 or so, compared to $299...

    Samsung 2343BW

Well, my first thread on Hardware Canucks, and it's on a piece of hardware that I'm quite pleased with. I bought the Samsung 2343BW today, and it's a great value. It's a 23" monitor with a native resolution of 2048x1152. That's actually sort of inconvenient, to be honest, because playing...
