I haven't been here for a decade, one of the strongest memories was following the Behemoth build. Glad the first thing I see upon my return is the rebirth of the Behemoth thread!
I started using 3090 and I think it's not as useless as it sounds, it can add up to 10 more FPS where it matters (the difference between 80 and 90 in maxed out Cyberpunk), and is godly in VR. Having many of my favorite titles run at 140-180 on ultras is just sick.
My 1080ti's had weird burn stains and were artifacting after a few months of mining in 2017, they got ok after, but I stopped torturing them. The 3090 reportedly has poor cooling on some of its 24GB memory units and could reach 110° on vram.
The FpsVR was showing 16GB of vram allocation in Half-life: Alyx, however the latest Afterburner with per process reporting has shown the game was sitting at only 6GB(!).
3090 is hilariously not needed outside the fact that it's available lol
Has anyone explored the merits of 24GB? There's a messy misunderstanding about the allocated memory vs used, but I think VR in 500% super resolution might use a lot of VRAM.
