    NCIX Recent Purchase Satisfaction Poll

NCIX has been sucking for a while now. Shipping is real slow, waits of a week, or more, before they actually send the package are common. I no longer get the "free" shipping deals, they say I live in an isolated area. Hmmm, if a box is getting shipped from BC via ground, I could actually see...

Gigabyte OC Orange Motherboard Sneak Peak

Looks like a special "Halloween" edition. Though I do have to admit that I kinda like the colours.

    Futuremark 3DMark 11 Launch Delayed

I got Vantage with my GTX285, used that code for the discount on 3DM11, and it worked. Now have Shattered Horizon too, not that it's too likely that I'll ever play it. Have way to many games on steam that I haven't played.

2 hard drive failures in one year...and a 3rd coming

I finally got around to doing the firmware upgrade on a 500GB 7200.11 Seagate that I've had for a little over two years. No problems with it, but it's going on a bus ride tomorrow, have an aunt and uncle who are in dire need of a new computer, so I'm sending them one of my six desktops...

    Codemaster's F1 comes out Sept 22!

I pre-ordered it from steam, but won't get to play on release day, 12 hour nightshifts tend to spoil things like that. Oh well, couple days off starting Wednesday morning, that'll be a good start.

how many years old are you... really?

Well, Slik definitely got me there, there was one other, but it was earlier in the thread, so I've already forgotten who that poster was. Guess I should of voted at the start of the poll, was a year younger on Thursday, not that it mattered, Friday I just advanced from the bottom of that range...

Memorable music concerts you have been to.

Probably the most influential I saw was in '79 or '80, somewhere around. My cousin dragged me out to see some guy I'd never heard of who was playing in the neighbourhood bar. We had a table right at the front, Luther Allison was quite interesting. Few others I saw and liked were The Who...

new build won't boot up! help.

You're better off using an actual pci-e connector, rather than an adapter. The adapter used two 4 pin molexes, which gives you only 2 +12's. there's three of those yellows on a six pin. Look for an 8 pin from you psu, I'd guess there's a 6+2 lurking about, you slide off the two pin portion...

    Soon to come Fractal case

Right, and the angle of the pic doesn't give a good enough view, but I'd guess three holes in the frame between drives. The question is, how much useless metal is actually there?

    Soon to come Fractal case

The article said that the mid-plate is removable, so anyone who eventually gets the case can try it both ways. I do like the hard drive setup, looks like the trays themselves are about the thickness of a drive, so they don't add to the obstuction of airflow. I'd like to see a better picture...

Spire Releases USB Powered Heating Stone

There are some worthwhile usb knicknacks, I picked up a bunch of those usb plasma balls in an ncix sale last year, great little christmas extras. But on the stone topic, the only good hot stone is in a sauna stove.

Help Please! did i make a bad purchase???

What slot are you running the soundcard in? You have a pci-e x1 above the first pci-e x16, this is normally used for sound cards. If you have the soundcard in the second video card slot, it will reduce slot 1 to 8 lanes, if it's in the x1 it shouldn't. Have you checked to see what you are...

Thermalright Redefines Enormous With HR-02 and Silver Arrow CPU Coolers

I dunno, lots of mass in those twin towers, like the D14, keeps the temps fairly level, not as big of a leap from idle to load, like most hsf. Speaking of the D14, you can close the side panel of an Antec 300, but it's very close. Between the heatsink itself, and the fans, it extends over all...

SMP2 A3 Core Gets Speed Boost With v2.22

Now I'm going to have to shut mine down so I can add in the oneunit flag. Been getting some work units lately with rather large TPF's, had one 20 minutes and one 12. Too bad they aren't all like the 3 minutes and change unit I had a couple days ago.

    New build - 900$'ish

Here's what G.Skill lists as compatable with the M4A89GTD Pro. G.SKILL-SEARCH BY MANUFACTURER MODEL NAME Not a whole lot of kits, though they are all 1.65v. memory. AMD's normally use higher voltage ram, and the ripjaws you linked are 1.5v., may work, but I'd rather get something I know is...

$5,000 Video Editing Rig - First Build - Suggestions and Advice

Noctua shows the NH-D14 as compatable with the board. Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"! Might want to check their ram list too, but as long as the ram doesn't have tall heatspreaders, it shouldn't be a problem. Not sure if it'll fit over Ripjaws. Ram speed...

Coming in July of 2010 - NCIX's New Ontario Distribution Center!

July 1st and we start getting hosed on the tax. I spent a whack at ncix this month, might as well get some things before the HST.

    LN2/Dice pots

Hmm, like the look of something like that, one of these years I'll try one. Get some strange looks from family if I whip one of those out, but I'm used to it. Should have decent resale value, for when you want to move up. Or out, for that matter. I'm thinking the monitoring gear is going to...

    Rants etc.....

Well, yah. Aren't they all plastic now? Not like the old days when I was a kid, the metal tonkas ruled! And they rusted much better too.

What would be your favorite color of fittings?

I've used some bitspower black sparkle, liked those. Of course, that's not on the list.
