ASUS Z97-A LGA1150 Motherboard Review Comment Thread

The Intel USB 3.0 driver reserves memory space (for performance like IRST I think). Could well be there is some instability related to the overclock itself that does not result in the stress test failing but does result in the driver falling over. Fix would be to try and dial it out with the...

ASUS Z97-A LGA1150 Motherboard Review Comment Thread

Can you list all USB devices plugged into the board and which ports they are in please? Need to pass to HQ for replication.

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

DFI P35 was indeed a cracking motherboard. DFI never managed to get to grips with DDR3 very well for overclocking on the FSB platforms though. The skew tables over 1600Mhz had to be set manually by board vendors and this seemed to cause DFI quite a few problems. i5/i7 IMC is completely automated...

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

Write MSI and ask them, maybe they'll tell you?

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

Exactamundo on the hindsight. If my crystal ball had told me that the Foxconn sockets were going to be the sole cause of my woes I would have done just what you said. MSI were ready to ship their revised GD80 in week 4 after it had all gone down. That's the last I'm going to say on this.

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

That analogy fits in the instance where the PCI/e slot not working is a complete one off. Given the fact that the socket failures seems to be plaguing me I think I made the right decision. Wringing out each CPU on every board for those benches took 4 weeks, not 2 hours each (so its hardly as if...

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

Two reasons MSI were not in the article 1) They were still in beta phase when the initial lineup was being finalised - the GD80 was undergoing a revision for PCI/e 2) By the time they were ready, my good CPU had been damaged by the ASUS ROG socket meltdown. This meant I could not provide...

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

I think as always the IMC's on these CPU's vary from batch to batch. One of my 870's will bench over 2600 MHz at 1N command rate CAS 8 the rest hit around 2200-2400 under cold. I have not tested on air etc as that was not the idea for this particular piece. The 20 or so boards are soemthing...

P55 Overclocking Showdown - ASUS, Gigabyte, and EVGA at the OC Corral

Hi, I've known Zac for a while, so I don't think it'll hurt to respond :) I don't recall hyping anything about this piece so am wondering why you are shocked. If you're talking about the socket failures, I can't post information I do not have. With regards to the second line. Yes most of...
