MSI Atom Tablets Spotted at Electronics Event

Will it kill the iPad? I don't know, too early to tell, but I sure as hell hope so. Why the iPad is so popular (besides that it's by Apple, which inherently gives it a leg up) is beyond me since it doesn't really offer any functionality beyond that of an iPhone other than being bigger.

Comment Thread for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 SLI Review

Well, I have to admit, the 470s sure seem to beat out the 5850s in terms of dual-GPU performance. Of course, it'll run almost 20 degrees hotter and use over 100W more power, but who's counting?

    Earth dodges a bullet

It's great that we know it's not going to hit us...though to be fair if it did come within the Earth's orbit it would shrink in size and likely not even hit land, or at the very least populated land.

Cheapest way to crossfire two 5770's

I checked a review that just said it had two PCI-E x16 slots, so I assumed they worked at x16-x16. That fact has been rectified. I'm sorry I affected you by being mislead and correcting the mistake before you showed up.

Cheapest way to crossfire two 5770's

Hm. Thought they both ran at x16. Guess the stuff I'd been reading was misleading. Yeah, it'd work, though you might see a drop in performance. Regardless, I'd give it a shot; you already own the hardware and you're not buying anything that would be going to waste. Doesn't cost you a thing and...

Which Video Card Brand & Model?

It all depends on the resolution he's playing at. If it's at least 1920 x 1200 and he can afford a 5850, for sure that's a good choice. However, if it's less than that it's probably not worth it. A 5770 is at least adequate for 1920 x 1080, unless maxing out Crysis is a priority.

    ThermalRight Venomous X Mounting... Issue?

Can't speak for the cooler specifically, but other coolers don't (or shouldn't) and I'd be a little concerned. I'd check to make sure there aren't any screws, etc. that can be tightened down (obvious, I know, but it's like saying to check power connections; simple mistake, but more common than...

Which Video Card Brand & Model?

Agreed; unless you're folding there's not really a good reason to get an Nvidia card at this moment; they're more expensive, they use more power, they produce a LOT more heat, they lack DX11 and Eyefinity, and it's generally just not worth it. If you want Nvidia, wait 'till the end of the month...

    Corsair 700D now for sale!

All I'm saying is I'd put my trust in 3 230mm fans an 1 120mm fan long before I put it in 3 140mm fans (especially for such a huge chassis). Besides, airflow, if everything is watercooled, is not a big issue, which is why the 800D can pass for a great WC chassis...again, still not a big fan...

Cheapest way to crossfire two 5770's

My main question is why you can't just run the new GPUs on your current motherboard, RAM, and CPU. If you're currently on stock cooling you could pick up a Hyper 212 Plus, OC your processor (and a fair bit too) and run the GPUs on your board's dual PCI-E x16 slots. Anyway, if you feel...

    Media esque PC

If you're mostly keeping just the OS and apps on the SSD, that's a good one to get. As for RAID 5, you may want to delegate that to an separate NAS in the future. But yeah, there should be a way to get the information from a RAID 1 array to a RAID 5. Not sure how direct it is, since I've never...

    First Watercooling Build

Normally I'd agree, but if every major heat-producing component (CPU and all videocards, chipset is a maybe) is water-cooled, the temperature of the air inside the case is less of an issue than that of the air coming through the rads.

    Corsair 700D now for sale!

Yeah, the funny thing is I don't really care about those. I can do a window-mod for the case (and get it exactly how I want it, whereas I don't much like the 800D's window), a silver case doesn't need a black inside (and this also can be remedied by modding), and while the cable management may...

Lancool Dragonlord PC-K62 Case Review Comment Thread

Well, it's got 8 expansion slots, so as long as your boards got 4 PCI-E x16s spaced appropriately you should be able to fit them... That said, I'm not sure how well it'd cool them. It's got pretty good airflow, but 4 260s is a heck of a lot of heat. Good luck with that.

Tax Return : Second 5850 or SSD?

First, when I said that an 80GB is more comparable to 60, I wasn't speaking in terms of performance. The Intels obviously win against the 60GBs. Instead I was speaking in terms of storage and price. Second, while the Intels also have better 4k reads and writes, and these are very important in...

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler Review Comment Thread

But that was with all the other heatsinks using a low-speed fan. Its results with a low-speed fan were pretty poor...though to be fair it was up against some good coolers.

Noctua and GPU cooling too late or not?

I've got no problems with them jumping in, as, worst case scenario, things stay the way they are right now. That said, with Noctua, the product is almost certain to be good...though don't get your hopes up for a cheap product. They've yet to introduce one on the CPU market, and I doubt they'd...

    You know you want it...

You, sir, are my kind of man. But seriously, I can't imagine that being practical unless you're sitting at least 10 feet away. 1080p on such a large monitor is far too small a resolution for standard computing use. And for gaming, as above, unless you're sitting far away, it's going to look...

    Corsair 700D now for sale!

On the other hand, if you have no interest in either of the two features (and/or will window-mod the 700 and just don't care about the hot-swaps) it's not a bad case. It's still got most of the 800's awesome features. That said, to be honest I don't like either chassis. Besides the hot-swap...

    First Watercooling Build

If you're heavily OCing the CPU and you can afford it, a second loop would certainly help. i7s (and presumably the 400 series) put out a lot of heat, quite possibly more than even a 360mm rad can handle. If you have planned out where you'll be putting a second rad and have the cash to build the...
