    NVIDIA SHIELD REVIEW Comment Thread

You're right. It's apparently more impressive in person than in concept. Personally I think that both Android console gaming and remote TV gaming are going to grow. The Shield is the first device which gives people both, and it's well made, but the form factor is not perfect for everyone (or...

    NVIDIA SHIELD REVIEW Comment Thread

I think that Chromecast could end up going the gaming way. Google has already tried to establish Chrome as a gaming platform, and it could potentially stream these games. Add a bluetooth controller and you'll get console style gaming broadcast from the PC. It will be a lesser solution, but it...

    NVIDIA SHIELD REVIEW Comment Thread

But wireless is pretty much what's needed. You don't need a powerful CPU or GPU, lots of RAM or storage space. The Shield is not even the most convenient form factor. NVIDIA SHIELD REVIEW Comment Thread

I'm not saying that these devices can do it, just that this is what a game streaming device should be like. Shield may be the only device which can currently stream PC games robustly, but it's still a serious overkill for that.

I do think that the PC's future for gaming is as a server. Imagine being able to take advantage of all these...

    NVIDIA SHIELD REVIEW Comment Thread

Thanks for the review. It's interesting that reviewers are pretty enthusiastic about the Shield even though most people don't understand up front who the target audience of it is. Personally I find the concept pretty appealing, but unfortunately I'd have to buy both an NVIDIA card and (I think)...

GPU Benchmarking Methods Investigated: The Comment Thread

Actually, TechSpot did a review lately based purely on FRAPS measurements of one minute runs and found the 5850 to beat the 470 in most cases. Which shows how testing methodology can affect the results.

GPU Benchmarking Methods Investigated: The Comment Thread

Nice article. I also registered to the forums just because of it. I found the frame rate graphs particularly enlightening. They show how meaningless average / min / max FPS can be. The Just Cause 2 one in particular shows how frame rate can vary significantly, with NVIDIA and AMD trading...
