What I am sure he is saying is it mostly depends on the CPU

AMD Ryzen™ 9000/7000 Series Processors( I would think also 8000 series, so if the board says yes, and you are running one of those types of CPUs then yes

The CPU is what controls the PCIe lanes, the motherboard is just an interface.

But yes, you'll have 1 PCIe 5.0 for the video card, 1 PCIe 5.0 for a NVME and there's another 1 PCIe 4.0 NVMe slot. Based on the Gigabyte website, you cannot use all 3 NVMe slots on the board, 2 is the maximum.

A 5090 is not bottlenecked by a 8x gen5. Talking 1-3 fps differences.

No mention of lane sharing for the GPU.

You'll want to use the top and bottom NVMe slots:

You can only use them all if you put a x2 lane SSD in both of them. They share the x4 lane. I've never seen an x2 NVMe though.

The X870E chipset has more PCIe lanes and doesn't typically have this issue.
