1600w...yep, we're on the cusp of having to make 20A circuits mandatory!

shiza...under a moment of intense load I suspect this could spike so high it would pop a breaker!

I don't know any hardware setup that even comes close to hitting 1000w unless you are being dumb with power limits/oc for that 1% gain.

FX-8350? (all core OC) + Dual 6990s (with secondary BIOS) I'd pull 1100W from the wall under load in actual games not even accounting for what I could do with syntheic benchmarks. So I'd say most modern systems no longer pull close to 1kW.

Edit: 7900xtx caps around 400W and 5950x not sure what it pulls but on a modern system I'm not pushing 1kW anymore.

Sure if you do exactly like I said and unlock one. Otherwise no.

TR 5995WX will pull 285w under load.

The point I was trying to make is most people have no need for anything above 1000w. Sure you can cherry pick some examples.

As a side note most highest 15A style UPS start sounding alarms near 1kW draw (cyber power 1500VA pure sign wave for example). The only higher rated units would have required me to run a 20A line and go with a 20A style UPS. Even moving everything except the tower itself from the UPS to a different circuit I was breaking 1kW under load at the wall (from the UPS).

Might as well go with a whole home battery setup instead, maybe toss in some solar to offset the electricity cost lol

I think we really need to shift focus to energy efficiency though, AMD CPUs can perform similarly to Intel with way less power for example. ARM can do what x86 can do with a fraction of power as well.

I was using it for the pure sine wave filtering. That expensive of a desktop wanted the protection it provided to what at the time was quite an expensive computer. Whole home batteries... 20k I think was the cheapest i saw something pre-installation.

Moving from 2x6990's to a single 1080ti was worth the purchase price just in the difference of power draw. ~450W for each 6990 in the secondary BIOS (900W total) vs ~300W for a tweaked 1080ti FE
