Fastest card is GTX 1080TI ,buy used it is the way to go.I seen them on Kijiji $600.Killer deal.
New Super 2080 will be faster than 2080 in a couple weeks.

A couple benchmarks before Ryzen got it's boost in 3d mark.

Just for fun 2600X@4400Mhz RTX2080

Also had two EVGA 1080 SLI setup. It was unable to properly perform in 4K in most games (I play at highest settings possible).

I finally got rid of those gpus and bought a Zotac 2080 Ti. Now I can more safely run games on 4K but know that it won't hit 60 fps in most games unless you play on medium to high settings and not very high or ultra settings.

After 9 months, today it started artifacting but other than all is good.

If you're playing in 1440p then 2080 should be fine. If playing in 1080p then I wouldn't upgrade and wait for the next RTX generation.

What resolution and refresh rate are you playing at? That should be the deciding factor if you need to upgrade.

If you're on a 1080p 60hz monitor you're probably not going to see much increase. If you're on a 4K monitor you'll probably be well served by the switch to the 2080.

Depending on the games you play some don't scale all that well with SLI so you might see better performance with the 2080 by a significant margin, others not so much.

A single 1080ti powers anything I have thrown at it in 4k with everything maxed out

I am a firm believer in always a single card over two less powerful cards ( thinking of power usage heat produced noise) and even then sometimes a more powerful card you might not notice the difference in gaming or the difference is so little it isn't worth the money heat noise power consumption . but that is just my opinion.

Aren't SLI and Crossfire support in games pretty much dead? So what if you get a very high score in synthetic benchmark if the power doesn't translate in real world applications?

I agree, it looks as though SLi and Crossfire are dead. The supers support it, but devs gave up by the sounds of it. You would still have it for previous gens and old games and drivers that supported it. I guess GPU's are strong enough to do it on their own now :haha:

2x 1080 will be useless because the Dev-s have removed the support for SLI and crossfire. They have seen it useless of using a dual GPU and most of the games dont even support SLI. Better get a new 2080 or stick to the 1080s if you dont intend to play games above 4K.
