320bit memory bus width won’t allow it as your stuck with 10 chips and these seem to be always in multiple of 1GB chunks. That means 10GB or 20GB without messing with the width. Messing with the width means it’s not a 3080 anymore.

Edit: To add the cost of GDDRX make 20GB a non starter imho. Your basically getting into 3080 Ti price points...

Great to see stock that doesn't appear to have vanished in the first 2 minutes of showing up. :)

Now if only we could get to that with AMD Zen3 processors. (I've noticed we're at least back to seeing Zen2 stock available online so the concerns surrounding those being out of production/supply chain didn't come to pass).

Good point. Too add to this, the 3090 with more ram didn't increase performance that much. What makes one think the 3080ti will be much better?

I think it is more the what if of running into vram limits in the not too distant future on a brand new $1k GPU. Some titles already exceed 8gb (4K ray tracing, etc, etc). Having extra vram is useless...until you have insufficient.

But by that time the 3080 likely won't be able to get smooth frame rate anyways and you will need a 5080.
