I know a few other people have printers and/or 3d printers. So I thought I'd start a thread on what people are designing / printing. Or people even considering a printer. If you have any questions, feel try to ask.

I've been printing stuff like crazy lately. All of which relates to computers.

Today I've designed a simple 3 x 7mm high SSD mount.

The other day I designed a full height adapters for a FusionIO ioScale and a Mellanox ConnectX2 GBE adapter. If in the rare occurance you have one of these cards, I've made the designs available here.

I'm now printing w/ PLA 100% of the time. Absolutely hate ABS. I have no idea how anyone can use it without wanting to pull their hair out :angry2:. Thinking about trying some of the fancier plastics. However I think I'll upgrade to a dual extruder printer before that happens. Something like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Aut...p-prusau-i3-kit-with-LCD-8GB/32599663738.html.

I also have a 3D Reprap printer, built from an Aliexpress kit. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...32679964210.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.sB3fkx

I'm using it to make the 3D printed parts for my new CNC Router. I'm making an Ox-Metal, as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8HvHC8-1c&t=1707s

I'm slowly learning the 3D design process, using Fusion 360. Oh, and I have a Raspberry Pi 3 with a 5" touch screen that I plan to put Octoprint on to run my 3D printer. I'm currently using a computer running Repetier Host, but I need the workbench space. And playing with the Pi 3 is fun too.

I'll chime in too. XYZ Printing Davinci 1.0A running Repetier 0.92 firmware, and controlled via a Rpi3 / Octopi via network with camera. Currently using ABS (can't get PLA to work properly, I know weird...) and using Catia V5 to model parts and assemblies.

Not familiar w/ this program. I tried TinkerCAD and after 10 minutes of their tutorials I am a master . It is really so much easier than I expected.

I'm also runnning a Raspberry Pi w/ Octoprint. Has been working fantastic. Using Cura to slice. Found the first layers are significantly better than Slic3r.

Had BOTH of my printer fans die this past week. Completely seized, I even tried oiling them as soon as they started making noise, but no go. The first was the extruder fan, which AFAIK does nothing. Printed fine w/o it. However the print cooling fan made a huge difference. I can't print really without it. Now I have to find a replacement blower fan that will work. So PSU died after about 20 hours on the printer. Fans died under 100 hours. Quality Chinese part.

Thanks for posting those, and for mentioning Tinkercad. Both it and Fusion 360 are Autodesk products, but Tinkercad is easier to use so far. I'll be trying to design some stuff on it tonight.
