3D Printer Essentials? (Or maybe better named as "Adventures in Newb 3D Printing" )

I grabbed some M5X25 from fastenal. The belt tighteners seem to work great, it never ceases to amaze me how high the quality of free user-made mods is. I'm assuming the great majority of them are based off of designs the users have seen on other printers, but still, there's quite a bit of work that must go into these things.

Great to know, i hate the the way the belts are tightened now. Its really impossible to dial it in. Ive been moding all weekend. Ill post later what ive done so far!

As promised
First off is the TL smoothers, the little box I made wouldnt fit closed with the wire length I had.. For now they are mounted to the base of the box but not closed, I might buy extensions down the road.. I havent printed the benchy to compare the quality yet and see if they made a difference.

Then the step down 24v to 12v


Then the petsfang and fans. I had to re model the base as even the ender 5 base floating around didnt quite match my mounting plate.


Then I installed this extruder arm. Makes the bowden tube 6" shorter and is supposed to improve performance.

Single color stripe?

Can just run two segments of 12v strips in series to avoid using the voltage regulator.

Heh.... I think I'd have to run a couple of full length rolls to drop the effective voltage down that much. The whole 300 light strip is in series for 12V.....

Could use a single segment even. But if that segment ever failed, the other leds would get 24v. Just generally just split what you need in half. I have probably 100 ft of led strips in use. Almost all of them are 12v strips running off a 24v psu.

Bah! Cracked my supports!!! Either its the M3's I used instead of the required M4's or just too much muscle while tightening the bolts ( or both )
Or maybe not enough infill at 35%... I wonder if I could "weld" them back together with a soldering iron?
As they are, the bed does feel much less spring board like but hey, I printed a benchy and Im seeing very little improvement after all these mods lol
I think Im done modding, time for some real printing

Ahhhh.... those are self printed supports for the print surface that act similarly to a GPU support?

Yup, i gotta find a way to repair them. I can't justify another 16h print + filament lol..
There are some that did a dual Z lead screw mod. 2 z steppers working in tandem.
