Kind weird timing with AM4 at end of life but MicroCenter consumed litterally every single one. This seems like it would have been amazing value for a budget gaming machine.

219 USD Price Tag ~> 290 CAD

105W TDP, which indicates these are defective 5800X3D. Remember the days of Phenom 710 and 720? The tri-core CPUs.

Well here is the blast from the past, you know what will happen next, right? ;)

And $290CAD is not worth it. The price probably will be even higher, because scalpers.

I also suspect this is only going to be supported on 5xx series board? It's limited run so I don't see why Asus and GB are going to bother with making old 4xx boards compatible with this.

Boards that support 5800X3D will support 5600X3D as well. AMD will also push out necessary updates.

this isn't a bad thing...but it would make more sense to open up their AM5 platform with better pricing rather than breath new life into AM4 and lose sales. mebe they're hoping this will be a stopgap upgrade for those that can't afford AM5 and hope they upgrade when Ryzen 8000 or something is released. <_<

It is limited batch that is being 100% managed/sold/advertised by micro centre. I think it’s a good idea overall (even though it doesn’t benefit most people). Basically failed 5800x3d, and there aren’t enough of them to do a larger release, but enough that they didn’t want to send them to landfill.

If someone didn't upgrade already, this may be a good option. Really need to see the benchmarks to see how it competes with 5xxx AM4 and 7600 AM5. Right now, 5800X is about 7600 level of performance so would be interesting to see.
