It's not that we don't "value" the visual detail... it's just as the eyes age the compromises start to come inI will leave the monitor choices to others with experience with them. But I have always had good luck with Dell monitors, and would probably go that route over the Gigabyte. I MUCH prefer 27" @ 1440p.
You didn't mention what size your current monitor is, but just as a reference (if you aren't already tracking), 1080p 24" has around the same pixels per inch (PPI) as 1440p 32" (I think around 92 PPI). IMO the 1440p sweet spot is 27", as you get a higher PPI that I think notably increases clarity (I believe 109PPI). I have never had any issues with not being able to read something on that size monitor (pretty much everything can be scaled to your liking if required).
So at the end of the day for 27 vs 32', you need to decide between a physically larger display, or one that increases the pixel density/clarity of the picture. As I said, for me it is an easy call, but I understand others may not value the visual detail as much physical size.
haha. Don't value "as much"...doesn't mean at all! Does increased scaling for bigger fonts have issues for you? Works fine whenever I have tried it.It's not that we don't "value" the visual detail... it's just as the eyes age the compromises start to come inBalance, all about balance lol
Yup scaling works. Use it on my 4K as much as I’d rather not but not required on the 32” 1440p screens at work.haha. Don't value "as much"...doesn't mean at all! Does increased scaling for bigger fonts have issues for you? Works fine whenever I have tried it.
Well I wouldn't say "no QC", but I hear you. Good luck with the Dells! My daughter is still running my 27" Ultrasharp (U2711) on her PC. Been working great for years.Aight, thanks guys, I'm gonna stick with the Dells. Will try both and return the gaming one if the visuals aren't as good as rtings says they are. Though it's tempting to keep as it's nearly half the price.
@Lysrin I don't like that you spent over $1k on a monitor and there's no QC. Even the cheapest Ultrasharps get calibrated and therefor checked in the process.
And so for that reason, I'm out. -Barbara
I can testify to Ultrasharp's overall quality as I still have a 2209WA running as a bench monitor.
