8k upgrade paths

I am in the process of planning out a full upgrade to 8k, I thought I would share my current research.
The first thing on the list :

-----------
8k TV's are more rare this year, Sony has no entry (yet?) for 2024, the Samsung is basically the only game in town.
The next item is an 8k receiver, Denon seems the best option, still undecided.

Then we move upstream...HDMI 2.1 cables everywhere, followed by new video cards (lets go 5000 series)....and new monitors.
8k monitors are few-and-far-between too, looking.
------

Then we meet the elephant in the room. There is no 8k media.

Both Paris and Japan are looking at 8k broadcast of the next Olympics.
While GoPro has not entered the 8k market yet, others have. RED has new gear out;

Now, $18,000 might seem like a lot, it's certainly not hobbyist price, but compared with typical 'production' cameras that's super cheap.
This price will 100% drive 8k content production in a big way.
-----
I'm looking at this for an 8k content solution ;

New camera body fits all my lenses.
(y)

Tell me your thoughts, this is a work in progress on bleeding edge tech.

Remember that Asus board we stamped out that was bleeding edge? I don't think 8k is worth it until it matures more.

The thing is, your right-now bleeding edge 8k will be completely obsolete by the time it's common place.

Better to go bleeding edge 4k and milk it for all it's worth. Filming in 8k is fantastic for 4k content though. Nobody is streaming 8k... So what's the point.

More cost effective to let someone else guinea pig the 8k.

My 2 cents.

Haha ! yes the Striker Extreme. I'll find that pic.

Your exact thoughts run through my head constantly.
Here's the thing ;
The QN900 'D' is the 4th generation of this product, that's the 'D'. From what I've read it's matured enough to be a TeeVee. 8k monitors are a different story.
Seeing the new 8k stuff like the RED cameras for low prices like that makes me feel like it's actually coming as a standard, and worth investing in.

Let's see how the TV works and go from there.

We both know GoPro is working on 8k as fast as they can, but there are hurdles.
If you look at those RED cameras they have "Thermal Exhaust Ports" , they use active cooling. GoPro has to deal with the sheer heat output of recording 995,328,000 pixels per second at 30fps. 8k60 like the RED cameras is 2 Billion pixels per second !!
Not to mention a single SD card won't work.
Hurdles.

sorry but all pics are red X's. Looking for originals right now.

just like 4K early models were trying every trick in the book of 1080p tech the move to 8K will be a lil different as weve had 4K for man years and the tech behind it has improved 1000x in both the SoC's used to drive the upscaling and other techniques/panel types Mini led Mled QD-Oled as much as moving to 8K would be sick the same thing happened with 4K no real content out for it yet.

im hoping powerline tech gets some speed bumps in few yrs as it currently cannot stream any file size over 45gb that seems to be the hard limit even inhouse short of drilling through the heated floor dont see it getting any better.

Got a thermal cam? I use mine all the time for stuff like that.

No, and yes.
The only country working on 8k broadcast is Japan currently. There is 8k media online however.

It is a stunning TV.
The 'infinity edge' bezel is really cool ! Upsampling is flawless. The resolution is really quite something.
I've only looked at 8k wallpapers so far, still reading instructions and learning remotes. 8k video is next.
Holy crap 8k is just awesome.

Here's an 8k wallpaper ; ( I'm sorry I cant actually upload the true 8k image)

So from couch potato distance (10 feet) it looks like a really high quality mountain image.
If you stand up and walk up to the TV you can count the fallen trees and driftwood on the farside beach of that lake.
!!

:LOL:
