So I have an open case (Thermaltake P3) with a 240, 360 and 480 EKWB LC Coolstream radiators running a serial loop with distilled water. And now that winter is here, and the ambient temperature in my den is a bit more stable ~20c, for some reason I feel like my rig isn't cooling as good as is used to. I have my fans set to max out when the coolant temperature hits 31/32 (the fans are all slightly varied but that's pretty much where they all go on).

So two questions:
1) 9 x 120 Silentwing3 fans - while this is enough to keep the system cool (and the next part is going to be subjective, lots of variables here) - but is it overkill? Basically should I expect that all 9 fans have to run at 100% to keep the liquid temps maxing out at 32C?
2) Silentwing3 fans - are there other fans that would be recommended for cooling using a radiator (currently all in push mode) - my original goal (in picking these fans) was the noise factor, and while I understand in an open case I am going to hear them more I was just wondering if there may be newer / better fan options.

On a radiator... NF-F12 I only have 18 of them on the radiators... They were my choice because they are not optimized for general airflow but static pressure for radiators. The NF-A12 fans were not really a thing when I ordered the F12s but they also would be an option I'd be looking into if I had to replace all of them.

EDIT: My long term plan is to track down 8x180mm fans to have 4 on each radiator. As that is one of the best ways besides even more radiators to reduce noise is to increase the fan size where possible.

I may give those a try. I have some leftover from a build I had done for work..ANd yea, when I think about it I could've changed the rad in the shelf from a 4x120 to a 4x140

Idle the temps float (no pun intended) around 26C (all fans around 30-40%), loaded it maxes out at 32/33c (fans at max)

(wait you wanted the CPU and GPU temps_ - Idle CPU is 35C, GPU 27 (on front) and VRAM 40) - full load (after 5min) - CPU 43, GPU 41F / 52 back).

After 10 minutes, CPU at 49C, GPU at 43, and coolant at 33.

that's actually pretty good man. I wouldn't change a thing.

Agree with clshades. You would have to spend a lot of money and probably increase noise just to shave a couple degrees.

10 degree delta is impressive to be honest. I'm no where near that with my AIO. My last full custom WC build with dual 360 in push/pull was very close to your current setup but I was closer to a delta 15 if I remember correctly.

As an aside what your doing I don't really count as overkill. I had better temps than you with overclocked 1100T + 6990 + 6990 and watercooled motherboard and a single 360 rad... the catch was they were TK-123 fans to achieve that. Low surface area need to go crazy on the fans, high surface area and you can go with lower speed fans.

Pre Hardware Canucks? When did it become official?

Deafeningly loud setups are not exactly appealing to be near. Doubling your surface area is more effective then doubling the thickness of the radiator. So if you want to keep noise and temperatures down increasing the total surface area like you did is what you need to aim for. That is why I went from those crazy loud fans to super large external radiators. More surface area also lets the fans spin slower to keep the same temperatures.

At idle I actually keep the fans just above stall speed.

Edit: Kinda wish Noctua would do a super thick fan like that.
