A good Video on UPS and why you need one.

I had one for about last 12-13 years however about a year ago my latest one failed in a way which was not as simple as just replacing a battery. So this past ~ year is the longest I have gone without one.

Don't be. You probably don't live in Texas and California where they don't have stable power grids 😅
True. I should have one for work from home activities though, to allow for a graceful shutdown and a little extra protection. However most of that work is on my work laptop, so I get the graceful shutdown from its battery.

I never have a situation where anything valuable of mine isn't on a UPS. Even before I lived so Rural (I went from a city of 800,000 to 27,000), I had UPS units on everything.
You'd be surprised at the spikes you get and droops in voltage you get by things as simple as vaccuming ect.

Everything in my house is covered to some greater or lesser extent. Wouldn't have it any other way.

hmmm....UPS...never heard of it, so I must not need it :ROFLMAO:

I will probably eat my words some day, but I don't think I have ever used one (even with my NS power outages and bumps).

I have 4 UPS units. 3 for computers, 1 for the PlayStation 5. Windows and the consoles don't handle power failures well.

The hydro power lines in the area of my neighbourhood were quite old, so brownouts & power failures were common, sometime just on windy days. However, after several severe ice storms over the years, they've replaced & upgraded all the lines, so any power failure now is usually a town wide or area shutdown.

Edit: I don't use any of the UPS software for autoshutdowns, since I power down the units when I'm not using.

I'm in Montreal, and hydro Quebec's lack of reliability has made multiple UPSes necessary, not optional. Even today we're a bit windy and the power is flickering. But thanks to several UPSes I've never lost any hardware to brown outs or surges or fails.

I use a UPS on every pc/tv in my house, I started doing it because Orillia doesn't have the most stable power grid, we have a lot of brownouts that last 2-10 seconds at least a couple of times a month, which as we all know is not good for electronics, the only thing I need to upgrade is the unit powering my HH4000 and AP so my internet can stay on longer when there's a power outage as of now it last about 3 hours max but want to get that up to 10 hrs cause that so far has been the longest we have gone with out power
