I'm still running my Bell Gigahub for the TV boxes, but have the rest of my network running internal to that. Gigahub is .2.xxx while the downstream internal unifi network (full dmz pulling external address) is .1.xxx.

Is there a simple way for me to access a server on the internal network from a device connected to the gigahub's wifi (again, on the .2.xxx range)? I'm assuming I could set up a tunnel to the server and go "out" from the bell modem, and then back into the internal network, but it sure would be a lot easier if I could figure out how to pass through directly. (Device asks for an IP to connect which for anything on the internal network is just the IP of the server, but using that IP for a device on the bell wireless doesn't work).

Not a huge deal, just wondering if there's a simple setting on the bell router that would do the trick.

edit: I'm thinking it's probably not a port forward thing since the app asks for the IP as opposed to a port, although maybe it's pushing the default port to that IP?

Do you have a spare port still on your gateway? The easiest would be to plug in another cable to the UniFi gateway from the GigaHub. Something like this if memory serves me correctly...

1. Create new Network with an arbitrary VLAN number, eg:

1744838235269.webp

2. Set a port on the UniFi gateway to this as the "Native VLAN" (optional, set Tagged VLAN Management to "Block all")

3. Plug in GigaHub to said port

It should then mostly behave as just another LAN network and be able to access everything else (assuming you don't have any firewall rules between local networks).

So, setting this up in this manner will prevent any kind of loop issue since I'm also connecting to the 10G port of the giga hub as my "wan"?

Seems to have worked!!!!

Thanks a ton!

Now I'm wondering if that's two way which would allow me to use my APs for the TV boxes, but that's a test for another day. :)

Oddly, it only appears to work on a single client. The first android box connected fine and seems to be working, but the second one won't connect.

That said..... even if I can't get the second one working, having it work from this one particular STB will make life in my living room substantially better. :)

Technically yes, you'd make a new SSID and set it to the same VLAN. Might be worth enabling IGMP Snooping too actually, assuming Bell is still doing multicasting.

Not too sure what you mean here? These are Bell's Android STB's I presume, but if they're both on the GigaHub's WiFi currently, I don't see why they both wouldn't be able to reach your server.

I thought it was strange that the second one wouldn't. I'll have a second look at it in the AM, maybe it's something I'm doing. I'm wondering if it might not be something related to the server not recognizing the device as a unique device since the bell box doesn't really turn off.

Maybe the other just needs a reboot or something? I'm guessing this is Jellyfin, so is the 192.168.2.x network set as a LAN/trusted network?
