I just bought this thing to replace my LONG overdue 17" CRT with a rear end the size of texas, and god DAMN I almost really DID jizz in my pants, this thing is so damn sexy. The colors are crisp and clear, I have SO much more space for stuff on my screen, and ALL DONE AT 1920 x 1080 RES! This thing has an HDMI INPUT too! It doubles as an HDTV except (IIRC) it doesn't have built-in speakers. But god damn, i don't care :p

All my old movies n stuff look like crap because of their low quality on the new monitor.

Finally, i can put my GFX card's power to good use!

If anybody has some tips or personal observations about this specific model, much appreciated <3

I'm currently running an HD 4850 (512MB version). What can I expect to run games like? FYI I own HL2, HL2 DM, UT3, and a few others i'm too lazy to list atm.

All those games should run maximum settings, crank it up and enjoy!

More modern stuff though might be a bit tough. 1080p is pushing the HD4850.

Yep as Jdrom states...modern titles are going to require a decent GPU.....do I hear "upgrade".....

What card would you reccomend I upgrade to in order to take full advantage of my hi res? Definitely an ATI.

Perhaps a 4890?
Have a look at the review Skymtl did and see your preferred resolution... probably 1680 x 1050

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/16365-sapphire-radeon-hd-4890-1gb-review-11.html

for example.

A 4890 would be great, a 1 GB 4870 if you have to have ATI and want to save a few dollars... My wife has my old Acer x223W and I played in native resolution, which was 1680 x 1050.

The native res on his monitor is 1080p (1920x1080). So he should be looking more at the 1920x1200 results.

Yeah that is kind of an "odd" Res monitor.....any particular reason why your "deadset" on ATI? Yes, I would recommend 4890 if ATI and / or GTX 260 Core 216 / 275 / 85 nVidia.

Hmm, I should have googled that monitor, I just assumed that at 21.5" the native res would be 1680 x 1050... Well, the 4890 is a great card for that res and the 4870 1 GB would still be fine I think to run HL2 and even some of the newer games.

Mine's standard widescreen ratio, and i know the 21.5" seems like an odd measurement (why not just add .5 of an inch and make it 22"?)

Thanks for the replies guys :p
