heya all i was wondering what are the chances i can squeeze 128gb 4x32gb dimms in my 9950x3d Build?

i know back in the day everyone always touted dont do it amd has weaksauce imc and your results will vary wildly from not booting to instant bsods randomly if you fill the board with ram.

is this still a thing with AM5 in general or has this improved since the older am4 platform?

I have a hard time running 4 dimms fast. Not sure if its my memory, board, or CPU..

4600-4800 is about what I can do, but others have had better luck.

what id thought was considering getting a 2nd kit of that teamgroup expert 2x32gb kit i have 6000mhz but maybe 64gb is enough since its a B850 Matx board maybe it wont be as robust as a x870.

I know it stresses in IMC more and often doesn't get as fast, but I honestly haven't read much about what can reasonably be expected with 4 dimms on AM5.

Can we ask why? AFAIK, except for a handful of rare applications, nothing is faster than 64Gb (2x32gb) with an infinity fabric ratio of 1:1 running at 6000mhz. That's the sweetest spot... 🤷‍♂️
Unless it's capacity you're needing? Ramdisk?

With a quick search I found hits and misses with 4 dimms @6000. Nothing solid, but also not enough info on it that I would call it an answer.

I think a lot of 4 stick AM5 issues were related to earlier BIOS revisions. There was a lot of problems with auto optimizations and all that but was later sorted out from my understanding. It might not be the issue it was with the first few waves.
