AMD CPU upgrade from Athlon 4x 640 3k to Phenom II x6 2.9g 1065T-95, maybe 3.4 later?

A basic set of questions:

1. was this fully working before you swapped the cpu?

2. Is it working Now, if you put the old cpu back it?

3. when you did the bios update was everything working afterwards?

YES, it was fully working, and the SSD providing a nice improvement! I 'found' a Phenom II 1065T-95watt 'inexpensively' from a Canadian Canuck so I tried this upgrade? But, I've learned in hindsight that its NOT a good idea to flash from within WIn10, especially on this 10 yr old HP 6710f!

I've retried the original Athlon II 640, but I just get the fans starting, the motherboard LED light comes on, the DVD starts, but NO bios after pressing ESC, F1-12, Windows + B, nothing? I've even tried both an Win10 16gig and an x64 USB 8gig drive, but neither worked...

Win10 froze during the upgrade, so I think I 'bricked' my machine?

I ordered an alvorix board, w/Phenom 1045, 4x2gb, ATI5570 card from a PElite 410y, but....

So, I 'may' have a 1065 for sale, or a 1045?

And, maybe an 'unbricked' Alvorix board, IF?

Its been >20 yrs ago, but I got a former IBM software engineer to help me get my Apple Performa 640 to run both MacOS 8.6 on its 68040 (no LC) and on its Daystar daughtercard 601PPC/100mhz AND it usably ran Win98 (even XP) on its AMD 586dx4/125mhz card?

So, I'm very familiar with the 'tediousnus' involved in the editing of the bios, but its been 20 yrs ago, so I'm rather naive on programming, since my BS is in Business?

But, surely there is some 'step by step' guide to edit the 6.07 or 6.11 that I have, to replace the 1045 with the 1065?

I know to ONLY update this 'new' bios from within the bios utility, NOT WIn10pro on this archaic, but entirely usable 6710f!

The 6.11a bios is not for the Alvorix board, you are stuck with 6.07. And it doesn't say anything about "updating microcode to support new CPUs" so if Phenom 2 X6 was not part of the original configuration is not going to work. While the board seems to be based on the AMD 880 chipset which doas support X6 you need the bios update to make it work and it seems HP didn't bother. Your system does seem dead.hp_bios_update.jpg

I'm fearing that my 'bridged' RS880 may be dead, that's why I'm hoping that an officially 'new, but used' HP P410y rs880 board WITH an AMD Phenom II 1045t x6 CPU is 'transplantable' into my otherwise good system?

HP 'did' make a bios for the 410y to use the 1045?

'bridged' RS880 BRICKED bios?

it seems HP didn't bother. to make the bios compatible, despite OFTEN claiming the (Thuban) models were a compatible upgrade to ALL rs880 boards? That bad from a 'legalese' standpoint, but for, a 10 yr platform...
