AMD Drivers Might VOID Your CPU Warranty?

With ryzen 2000 we got XFR 2 and precision boost 2. XFR 2 was basically a more tuned version of the original. A relationship between Clocks, power and temperature. And precision boost 2 brought in a more tapered boost algorithm. Instead of only boosting 2 cores, the boost was spread out more throughout all the cores.

With the same generation, they introduced precision boost Overdrive. AMD’s one click overclocking feature. Now this is where things got interesting. It allowed the CPU to run at higher clocks and higher power. Higher than the manufacturers specification. And you know what overclocking does to your CPU ? Well besides better performance.. Well it voids your warranty. Or as AMD puts it “Because Precision Boost Overdrive enables operation of the processor outside of specifications and in excess of factory settings, use of the feature invalidates the AMD product warranty and may also void warranties offered by the system manufacturer or retailer.”

Now what if I told you that If you own an AMD GPU and CPU, and you updated your GPU drivers recently… You might just have voided your CPU’s warranty ? Well, That’s because according to Igor’s lab, AMD’s adrenalin Radeon Software actually Alters CPU Settings Without you knowing. It can make your system unstable. Your overclock unstable, your games unstable and your undervolt unstable.

While the underlying facts are accurate, "might" in the title makes the title pretty pointless and just another click bait. AMD and Nvidia might stop making graphics cards...Intel might suddenly go bankrupt...this video might contain fact or just opinion.

AMD has already admitted the PBO setting is inadvertently being changed through GPU related selections - Fact. PBO may void your warranty - Fact. AMD not honoring warranty after their GPU changes the setting unknowingly - completely unbacked possibility to get views...now if AMD actually denied warranty after this, that would be a story.

clickbait for sure since they have no way of knowing if you overclocked anything the bad part IMHO is the fact that AMD drivers are capable of doing this, why would GPU drivers be able to mess with the bios in the first place

Just do what GN did when they called in to Intel regarding CPU warranty: "What's XPS?". So in this case, "What's PBO? I brought from the store as it is". Unless there's a micro fuse on the CPU, they won't know for sure.

Because its built into the software, its a full overclocking suite. Its actually really nice. Everything in one app. I wish nvidia would follow and make something similar tbh

So it's to many cooks in the kitchen or not enough, and fair enough it's convenient then maybe make sure it's works.

But I think what your saying it they have put ryzen master or a version of it into the AMD GPU driver suit so you can oc all your things from one piece of software. Eh if it works for ya great but I don't like ryzen master even

Yes, and it worked fine. Only recently was there this issue... which tbh wasn't much of one. Its not like it was pushing your cpu to overheat or crash unexpectedly.

I try to push myself towards new things, I can't see any reason to ever choose this content over the other top choices... This video is one reason why.
