Originaly posted on fudzilla: AMD FX-8130P pushed to 5.1GHz on air

" Bulldozer in sixth gear

A Czech bloke has managed to get hold of a Bulldozer engineering sample and run it through its paces.

He ran a couple of tests and pushed the 3.8GHz FX-8130P to 5.1GHz, on air and with at a core voltage of 1.524V. The sample was apparently perfectly stable in SuperPi, while it was downcloked to 4.85GHz in Cinebench.

yeah not shure but even if the chip preforms within 10% of sb cpu it will be a good deal for folks even IF it is 8 cores @ 4.5 ghz !! :)

multithreading shouldnt be an issue with dozer, waiting on a proper review of per thread
capabilities. bioses should be pretty mature...havent really checked out the whole vid but did he
run anything like cinebench or the like?

edit : he did indeed but covered the numbers up

someone in the cinebench thread get a ruler out lol!

Now I am interested in seeing the actual release chips and some reviews/benchmarks of them. I wonder how much power it draws and how much heat it is pushing out at that speed.

I feel in the end, peaple that did not wait for the BD chips to arive & jump onto the SB train (like most of the lemmings would have done anyways) will regret it. I'm looking at prices of AM3+ boards atm & unless I'm totaly wrong here but it looks like BD ready boards are available at cheaper prices then the SB ones + IB will probly have intel force the flock to upgrade there boards again.

Well if AMD can come close to intel's per clock per core performance their 8 core chips are supposed to be similarly priced to i7 2600k. So essentially the big gain will be on the 2500k where their six cores should really kick 4 core ass. Unless I completely wrong on the pricing but I saw some chart of an apparent "leak" somewhere.
