Watched a few YT reviews of RX 5500XT this morning. In summary, it's overpriced. No difference between the 4GB and the 8GB version of the card in their testing. Performance in between RX580 and RX590, about on par with Nividia GTX 1650 (Super?) but pricing close to GTX 1660 Super. However, the 1660 Super is at least 10% to 15% faster in the reviewers' testing.

that's interesting...all the printed reviews I checked out said he 8GB is a must for high detail at 1080p and where real winners...champions of FHD gaming.

there were no comments on price though, other than being $150 - $200 USD, so no idea on that value metric. however, these showed to beat the 1650 Super's, so if the same price, really do win.

Actually, I think my initial post is incorrect. Going back to GN's video and pausing at the charts. Some games show virtually no difference between the 4GB and 8GB version, such as Sniper Elite 4. But in Tomb Rider, the 4GB clearly suffers in 1% and 0.1% while the average FPS is only a few frames lower than the 8GB. Then going to Strange Brigade, at stock settings, there are no difference.

Looking at the MSRP pricing chart on Anandtech, the 4GB is priced closer to 1650 Super but the 8GB is closer to 1660 Super.

Using GN's review as the sole reference, the 8GB card doesn't seem to be worth the money when the 1660 Super consistently out performance it for $20 to $30 USD more (MSRP).

I guess it all depends on pricing. ME is showing the 5500XT 8 GB cards between $299 and $334. That puts it in 1660 Super range, $309 to $349. And the 1660 Super does very well vs the 5500XT 8GB in the vast majority of the benchmarks that I have seen.

keeping in mind an RX 580 needs a lot more auxillary power than the 5500 XT and most entry level budget PC's won't have a PSU with dual 6 or 8 pin connectors.

however, that is quite the price delta over the 1650 Super...granted, it does have twice the RAM. but, as Mars says, the RX580 is the better deal due to prices it can be had for and it also comes with 8GB of RAM.
