this actually happened a few weeks back and I just switched to on board sound.
what happed was I decided to move the card away from my vid cards fan to a pcie slot that was on the other side of the vid card, after I did this the card stopped working, I then uninstalled the drivers rebooted ( winxp and win7) back into xp and xp didn't do the found new hard ware things so I reinstalled the drivers but still nothing, the power cord is plugged in and I did move the card back to its former slot.
When I looked over the card I couldn't see any burn marks and what I like to call the sniff test did give off any burn't smells .
my mother board has been acting strange as of lately and I am wondering if maybe the pcie slots just stopped working. is there some software out there that can test the slots ?
