I'm a little sad... was looking forward to grabbing B550 over X570 with the though that the they would be somewhere between B450 and X570 price wise, even if you miss out on some of the "extras" that many X570 boards come with. I just want something that over-clocks well and has the connectors I need

Seems really dumb to overlap X570 pricing.

Glad I just picked up a B450 for a family build. They're hard to find in stock as is due to COVID, this will only drive the market harder towards no stock since its the entry level pricepoint.

yeh, they B450's are rare as hens teeth now. dunno if they've gone EoL because of the B550 or what. having such high priced boards for mid-range chipset is going to hurt AMD sales. I hope this doesn't screw up their momentum.

Ugh. Was waiting to save some money on a mobo as I'm just using one video card and nvme slot so the b550 seemed like a good fit. Been so hard finding stock of anything.

A520 Motherboards
Supplementary to today’s announcement on processors is a few words on a new chipset from AMD. The new A520 chipset is designed to be the budget option below B550, and will be set to replace A320 in this market, with a focus on supporting the Ryzen 3000 CPUs and newer.

Specifications on A520 are going to be announced at a later date, with a full launch from board partners due in August. We suspect that A520 will mirror A320, probably with the same PCIe 2.0 support from the chipset to keep costs and power down. More information as it comes.

I really wonder what plays into the pricing overlay between the B550 and X570. Are they releasing the premium B550 boards first? Given the cost of B550 and delay of Zen 3, I will probably end up stuffing a Zen 3 in my X470 and get an A520 and a GT710 PCI-E 1x GPU and migrate my 1600AF off as the new server.
