Still working on my 1st playthru (had to restart) but I'm back to about where I was in Chapter 3. Not likely to play dark urge for a while. A few other things I'd like to try out first. Another custom character, then one of the origin characters.

What I'm finding a problem with is my limited past experience with a few classes, plus ignorance of the DnD spells. I never really played Barbarian, Druid or Monk. Usually wizard types, rogue, ranger, sometimes cleric. So when add Karlach or one of the druids, I'm fumbling around.
Dark Urge is a custom character, just with the storyline.

Act 3 Halsin Quest
Hot damn protecting that portal was HARD on tactician. Like DOS2 boss fights hard. Ended up having to put down a bunch of barrels and blowing them up to take out all the small enemies. Then using a bunch of scrolls since I don't have a lot of crown control spells.

Guy was so hard on tactician. Most of the game I've found not too hard except for this dood and Halsin's portal in Act 2. 28AC made him almost impossible to hit. Even when we could knock him prone, we at best had 19% to hit. PXL_20230918_160535690 (Large).jpg

Finished the Dark Urge storyline. It is definitely the best origin story of the game.
Just to clarify, without being too into the spoiler realm, is the Dark Urge storyline you embracing and using more of the Mindflayer tadpole abilities and where that leads, or is it something else?

Dark Urge is one of the characters you can choose at the beginning of the game. Unlike the other origin characters you can play, you can create a custom character but you use the Dark Urge storyline.

Oh. Interesting. I had that wrong all along! Thanks.

But it does have a unique story line and unique dialogues compared to other custom characters. It does have a unique 'past' or mystery origin regardless of what race, class, sub-class, etc. But it the game will still acknowledge your class, race, etc choices as well as the Dark Urge.

As a hint, Larian Studios had a mystery series about murders & mysteries in Baldur's Gate that take place before the big abduction with all the characters on the mindflayer Nautiloid.

Haven't gotten back to this since I started act 3, does anyone know if the changes to Karlach's ending have been implemented already? I'm kind of waiting to finish based on those.

Supposedly there's a new ending from the last patch, but haven't tried it myself.

Don't forget, that both Cyberpunk and BG3 get a big update/patch on Sept 21st. So you may want to wait for that as well and check the notes to see if they've added more.
