Unless I'm missin' something, I fail to see how this 'membership' competes with the benefits of Amazon Prime ...... while they're both obviously aimed at selling more products, the way they're hoping to get there is rather different..... that, and it costs more than twice as much. (n)

It doesn't. Given that it offers 'tech support for anything, even if you didn't get it at best buy' I'm assuming they're hoping enough tech un-savvy boomers/geriatrics/beyond will get it or have their kids get it for them even though BB will, at best, offer vastly worse support than a google or youtube search.

If the enhanced protection/warranty discount covers whole families, I could maybe see a few parents getting duped into it for kids breaking phones and ipads etc, but even then I think anyone who realizes they're paying $20 a month to save 5-10 bucks on a warranty is going to opt out pretty quickly.
