Bootup Issues?!?!? HELP!!!

The last couple few days have been very frustrating. When I wake up in the morning I find my system (Rig 1) has crashed. No blue screen.

When I try to restart I get a flicker of the startup screen then blackness.

I did have a few video driver reports last week so I updated with the most current Nvidea driver.

At 1st I though my GTX285 burnt out. So I removed it and ran the rig on the 8800GTS. It booted fine and then the next morning it had crashed again. This happened a couple days in a row. I found if I removed the GPU and reinstalled it I could get the rig to boot. Does not seem to work that way anymore. Just get the flicker then nothing.

I have moved RAM around, removed some, swapped it around and dstill nothing. I also thought it could have been, and may still be a failing power supply. Perhaps itsa just not providing enough current to get the rig up and running.

I am hoping it is not the result of remounting the CPU for the IC7 test.

So any ideas???

Any clues from the beep codes when your system POSTs? Are all fans spinning up? I know that sounds obvious, but sometimes it's the simple things.

you can get the rig up and running for an extended period before it shuts down? do you have any sleep or hibernate options turned on? id recommend shutting those off as they can cause errors, tho they shouldnt effect start up.

Regular single beep and all fans up and running.

I have hibernate and sleep turned off.

I would suspect the PSU. Try swapping it out for a known-good unit and see if you get the problem again.

And run memtest on single ram sticks.

Guess I will try it on the weekend. I was going to stick rig two in my Antec 900 case anyway. Will slave the Liberty 500w on Rig one during the swap.

Might be a tad overkill but hey it's better to have to many amps then not enough and speaking from first hand experience, it's quiet as a mouse with my dual 285 sli setup.
