I'm still unable to even START this game.

Complete garbage.

I've tried every fix recommended on the forums, and any other I can think of and I still hang at the splash screen.

Worst 60 bucks I've ever spent.

System specs? Windows Version? etc etc.... we cant help you if you dont help us first:biggrin:

bonehead isnt the first boss, the first boss is the dude in skag valley, with the crotchwhacking cutscene :p
bonehead is the 2nd boss, for when you are about 11th level ish

Yes that's right, sorry. I know he's a level 10 boss and I am only a level 7 characer so ya... lots of respawning, lol.

holy cow!

I can't find a hard copy of this game anywhere!

Checked EB Games and BestBuy near my work in Burlington - no dice Called a different EB Games yesterday and the guy said Oct 28th for PC - I'll call that one tomorrow again and am going to check Walmart after work

any other suggestions - yes I know about Steam but I don't have a credit card or pay pal account.

Derek

Ya that sucks, as I really wanted a hard copy as well. You should have dropped by the Borderlands Steam Deal thread... this was discussed in there before release and why I went for the 4 pack deal.

Heh, specs are as follows:

Windows 7 64bit
Q6600
8GB Patriot Viper 1066MHz
ASUS P5Q Pro
2x HIS 4850's in Crossfire - Running Catalyst 9.10
Corsair HX1000 PSU

I've also opened a thread in their Support forum, but I've had no luck finding a solution there yet. Gearbox says they are "working on PC issues."

Splash screen crash - Win 7 64bit, 2x ATI 4850 - Gearbox Software Community

If anyone has any ideas that they think might work, I'm open to anything.

I assume you've already tried compatibility mode?

I'm running Windows 7 RC x64 here without issues, but my hardware configuration is far differnt (see "Stygian" in my sig).

Played a few hours with a couple of bros last night, got my Berserker up to level 10.

I love this game so much :punk:

EDIT: No problems whatsoever on Chronos, running Windows 7 Pro x64 (RTM)

YEEEE HaWWWW!

I just called the Best Buy to see if the game was in after going there this afternoon (but I didn't actually talk to a sales rep - just checked around by myself) and the guy said it literally JUST CAME IN 5 MINUTES AGO!!!!

I'm off work in 20 mins and I'll be playing tonight!

So all you Hunters out there what are you currently leveling up in your skill trees?

I have 2 points at the moment and went with Swift Strike and Deadly (1 point each). Looking back I probably should have just put 2 points into one skill and I am not etirely sure I like the ones i chose but... oh well. I think I can change them later on. However it's nice to see my Bloodwing kill enemies in one hit too along with my l33t Snipes. :)

Im going more "purist" sniper. leveling in the regular sniper abilities completely. i only really use bloodwing in case of emergencies (because i sniper shouldnt reveal his position, right?)

I like some of the skills in the left side Sniper tree but I decided against them off the bat. Focus wasn't necessary for me as my Rifle is already 96% accurate (IIRC). And I chose Deadly over Calibur b/c as a sniper I am much more likely to score critical hit damage with headshots, and Deadly also boosts Critical Hit with other guns too, not just sniper rifles.

However I think Smirk is good to have when your trying to level up fast. So going for Sniper tree skills will grant you that bonus pretty quick!

I'm at level 10 right now and I put points into Focus, Swift Strike, and Gun Crazy. I've been alternating between snipers, SMGs and pistols, so I figured that would give me the most benefit overall at the moment. I can always reallocate points later on if I find that it's not working well enough, but for now it's doing pretty good.

By the way, if you're interested in playing co-op, post your name in this thread so we can organize games with each other: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/gaming/24873-steam-id-thread.html

Yeah, Smirk will also be awesome for co-op games since the entire team will get a pretty nice XP boost.
