Thanks there Realityshift.

I agree that it makes the colours of everything stand out a bit more.

I like it and would do it again. :)

cheers

Cables are a mess....as soon as I get them nice and neat...I am sure something will require me to rip it apart

Hot damn that's a hell of a lot of drives!!!!!

First rule of thumb for a server... if it's working, don't be messing with the cabling just to make it look pretty!!!! :)

Dayum, that's a ton of drives in that sucker.

+1 on the case choice, I love my P80. Though if I ever get a new case, I know what to do with this one.

1 180GB, 4 320GB, 5 500GB, 6 1TB...12 of the drives are in raid 1+0 config (4 raid devices in system), 2 drives in a Raid 1 config. 1 500GB external drive and 1 180GB for the OS. Due to the Raid 1 and 1+0 setups aprox storage is 4.5 TB. Another computer upstairs has 4x500GB Raid 10 in it as well.

Whats stored on them...family videos 200-300GB, Pictures (hobby) 150-200GB, SCI-FI 800GB, History/Documentary 250-300GB, Music 116GB, TV Recordings 303GB. This is stuff I would just about cry if it was lost...that is why everything is in Raid 1 and/or Raid 1+0.

Power draw on a cold boot..is aprox 510Watts (according to the UPS). Idle draw is aprox 200-210Watts. Would have been nice if the MB and raid cards supported staggered start up of HD's..but nothing a larger power supply couldn't fix

Hmmmm must find way to squeeze in more hard drives , wait 2TB WD's @ $400x 14 :help:

BeyondTV is DVR software. SageTV would be another option....and there are many others.
I just found BTV nice and relatively easy for the WA (Wife Approval factor).
