Computex 2010: ADATA’s New PSU Series & High Performance Flash Products
While we may not be physically able to bring you the latest and greatest from the Computex show floor, Hardware Canucks will be bringing you a series of quick articles which will highlight some upcoming products from various manufacturers.
ADATA is well established in the Flash and high performance memory categories and with their Computex announcements, they are well on their way to taking things to the next level. It also looks like they will be following the lead of companies like Corsair, OCZ and Mushkin by releasing a lineup of power supplies.

N004 and N005 USB 3.0 Flash Drives
Taking advantage of the performance offered by USB 3.0 has been a challenge to say the least for many manufacturers. This is due to the fact that the current crop of USB 3.0 controllers run extremely hot when compared to those running the older yet slower USB 2.0 interface and as a result these newer drives are usually quite large to properly dissipate heat. ADATA on the other hand has found a way around the heat and size issue and their upcoming N004 and N005 drives are nearly the size of a standard thumb drive.
Expect several capacities when these become available within the next few months. Pricing has not been set.
S501 SATA 6Gbps & S599 SATA II SSDs
While the Sandforce SF1200-based S599 has been on the market for a while now, its high transfer rate of up to 280MB/s is extremely hard to match. However, ADATA will be soon releasing their Marvell-based S501 SSD that boasts a SATA 6 interface for sustained read speeds of 350MB/s and write speeds of 200MB/s while utilizing a massive 128MB cache. While pricing isn’t yet available, expect capacities of 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.
Horus-series PSUs
With their competitors running amok in the power supply market, ADATA thought it was past time to take the plunge themselves and have launched the Horus series of high performance PSUs. When it is available, you can expect the line to feature products starting at 550W all the way up to 1200W which feature modular, sleeved cables and units which feature 80Plus Bronze. There is some talk about the possibility of higher end power supplies with 80Plus Silver ratings but for the time being it looks like the Horus range will all be 80Plus Bronze certified. One of the more interesting features in this range is its ability to tell you the load it is under by way of colour-shifting LEDs.
