So just curious if anyone does this.

Basically in my new place my main computer is top floor, TV is basement. I have a lenovo tablet and would like to use it as a way to connect to my main rig upstairs while I am mindlessly watching TV. Anyone know of a better solution than just RDP? Ideally something 100% local. I know I could use a standard remote app like remote desktop, chrome remote, anydesk, teamviewer, etc. But those are all solutions that work outside of the local network as well. Is there anything out there that is only local? Or am I just over complicating things?

RDP, VNC etc can be configured to only accept incoming connections from the local network. Between firewall, router rules etc.

If your tablet has a static IP address you could go as far as only accepting connections from that specific IP address.

Yea I knew that, was just wondering if there was anything else out there more specific for local use or not. Seems like there is not and that is fine, just figured I would ask around.
