Techspot / HUB did a review of DDR5 8000 CL38 kit. TLDR, a DDR5 6000 CL26 could match it in most cases or just slightly slower. But a 6000 CL30 kit isn't that far behind overall and their conclusion is that anything above 6000 CL30 is not worth the money and 8000 kit is also not really worth it. Finally, only half the boards they tested would even support 8000 correctly.

did they run any tests to see if the higher speeds were beneficial for AMD's integrated iGPU? I'm talking their 680M / 780M.

forget who released it but saw someone has created a 64GB kit of 9000mhz and a 128GB kit of 8000mhz. don't recall what the timings were though.

No, they didn't test it with iGPU at all, just the standard gaming PC setup. As for 128GB kit, are you talking about the Trident Z5 Royal Neo? DDR5 8000 CL44 128GB kit with RGB! The new Techspot / HUB article mentioned GSKill is unveil a DDR5-9000 kit at 64GB at CL48.

When 128GB modules do "exist" I dislike the headline being about 2x64GB modules. As realistically this is the first 64GB module to hit 8000...

most likely...I don't recall the details other than seeing high capacity DIMM @ fast speeds. :)
